Hello visajourney friends i hope you are having a good day and good holidays.

I have always came to you guys whenever i needed an advice and today is no different, i might have made this post before but now its abit different. My dad passed away today and as of now i am a PR in the US, i would like to bring both my mom and my younger brother to live with me here. They both live in egypt , what should i do ? what visas should i apply to. I also bought two plane tickets from egypt, can they travel with their B1/B2 from egypt to here in the pandemic ? because the US embassy in egypt suspended issuing B1B2 for the time being but they already have their visas can they travel with it ??

You can't bring either until you are a citizen. How long until that .  Currently your brother would be a very long wait   about a decade  after you can submit  your mother would be more immediate but once again not until you are a citizen

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

PRs cannot petition parents or siblings.  They can visit if they have valid tourist visas .

Ok  In two year plus process time you will be a USC  , then you can submit for both as 2 applications.  Your mother would come quickly  but your brother is in a long slow line.   If the laws stay as they are it would take about 12 years,   how old is your brother ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My brother is 21 years old unmarried. Would it faster for my mom to file the F2B for him ? or she cannot do it because she is not a USC

When she arrives and has her green card she can file for him .  He would have to remain unmarried until he has his green card or she becomes a USC.

Hi,

Your mother and brother can visit the US with their visitor visas.  Hopefully, you did not buy tickets that goes through a ban country in Europe.  Are there any layovers?

After you become a US citizen, you can file for your mother and brother.  It will be about a year for your mother.  It will be about 12-14 years for your brother.  They can not immigrate together.  It will be separate cases for them.

Once your mother becomes an LPR, she can petition for her unmarried son over age 21.  The current wait is about 7 years.  Your brother has to stay unmarried.

Your mother and brother will have to leave the US after visiting.  Overstaying would be a bad idea and could lead to 3 years or 10 years ban.

Best of luck.

Agree they can visit for appropriate periods as things are now.

I would add that we are in a period of flux and if you believe Biden's proposals things could change significantly in 2 years, both could effectively immigrate together. I have no idea how likely it is that his proposals will become reality.

Sorry for your loss. Yes they can travel to the USA on their B1/B2 visas. They shouldn’t be tempted to overstay in the hopes of you petitioning them. It would be a long wait and they’d have to maintain legal status in the interim, impossible.
