Hello and good luck to everyone. I know it's always a long and stressful journey. No one can put asunder what God has put together. Just a quick help. Spouse have interview next week. It's advisable to buy flight ticket or wait until visa approval? Any suggestion? Thanks.

Immigrant should never quit a job,  sell things and buy a ticket for the US until the visa is in hand

The AP after an interview for this country (if they intend to approve) can last anywhere from days to many months

and the approval will depend on amount of time spent together,  length of time you have known each other,  ages of both,  and so many other issues

Thanks for all the advice. A travel agent told me the visa cannot be approve without a ticket.  I know it was just a business strategy.

Yeah, that is not the case.

Good Luck!

Absolutely false and deceptive.........I would find another travel agent.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Travel agent is a liar.  The US Embassy specifically advises not to buy tickets until after the applicant receives their passport back and checks the visa for errors.

I would stop using the travel agent at the moment. The consulate's decision is not dependent on ticket at all.

best to purchase ticket after your partner has the visa in hand and after checking for any errors.

In this age and era, why are you still using a travel agent to book a flight? I always just google "google flights," put in my destinations and then let it pull out information from all travel sites. I then book the cheapest. Basically, avoid going to specific booking site eg Kayak because there may be a lower price somewhere.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Correct!  In hand, not just "approved".  In hand, inspected for correct names and dates.  THEN buy a ticket.
