Why exactly do we mail the documents for marriage?

Hi everyone, I am gathering documents to be translated in Morocco in advance of marriage there.  I read that I should scan a copy and email them to my fiance so he can go ahead and get them translated or start the translation process before I arrive.  I also read that I should mail the originals to them.  I am planning on going in end of December to get married so since it's a relatively short time period, should I just bring the originals with me in person instead of mailing them?  I have always have a good experience with the postal system in Morocco but there is a chance of things getting lost in the mail in any country.  Thoughts?  Also I found a good description of the marriage process here:  https://marocmama.com/get-married-morocco/

Has someone on this site made a guide to marriage in Morocco?

Thanks in advance!

don't mail originals to Morocco  /  they may be lost (or stolen ) and mail in Morocco can take a few days to several months

i mailed a package in October one year and it didn't get there till April

another letter never arrived at all

and no, not a good description of the process

1st  go to US embassy for the affividat of eligibility to marry (Casablanca)

2nd  get that translated into Arabic

3rd   take both to Rabat to Office of Foreign Minister (receive paper there)

4th   if you are muslim a document saying that is needed (he will need this)

5th   get medical exam done (in Morocco only)

6th  in his home city meet with police and then the judge ( and papers are submitted to judge for decision)

and now wait

the following site tells it best telling you what documents are needed by you

and many translators in Morocco will not translate till they see originals

should have added

getting the documents translated in Morocco (and there are several offices to do this) is the most expensive part of the marriage

costs me in 2010 $10 a page and needed 6 copies of everything (mine and his)

here you could translate one time and make 5 copies of all (except the affidavit of eligibility to marry that comes from the US embassy in Casa)

Wow that is expensive! I will definitely plan accordingly!  Thanks again JeanneAdil! :)
