Sorry to hear of your situation.

My plan is to become as self sufficient as is required. Planning to buy a bread maker and a sausage machine. That way at least my bread and sausages will (eventually) be more to my taste.🙂

Necessity is the Mother of Invention😂

Good luck

Bread and sausages... yea I feel you 😄

Though that's about it for me. I'm fine with the rest and figured out how to substitute except for some cravings here. Take a look at the frozen bread section at Walmart, they usually have some foreign style bread there. Expensive but the heart wants what the heart wants. And they have brats that are actually not bad.

It's try and error. Shop around and see what you can adapt too. Cause in the end that's what you have too.

A lot of the major grocers these days have UK offerings as part of their foreign sections--you probably won't find bread but you can find the stuff that stores better, like sweets and heinz beans. This is my experience in the northern states at least, not too sure if it's the same deal as far south as FL. A quick search tells me that there are a few UK import stores in Orlando, I know you're still under quarantine but if you need to scratch that itch soon then it might be worth a road trip.

Beyond that, Amazon or small hole in the wall shops are where I've been able to find the most foreign products.

Good luck and welcome to the US!

👐

Patience......patience.

Costco for sausages and streaky bacon.

There is a place in Denver that does decent Bangers

Have spoke with specialist butchers about Bacon and they know what I want but do not do it that way.

A friend gives me Elk sausages if he gets one and they are excellent, makes me wonder if the guy who does his butchering could do Bacon, but it seems a lot of work.

Vegetarian Baked Beans, I get mine from City Market.

HP etc sauce from specialists, Amazon or a Dutch friend who visits, amusingly now made in Holland.

Things in the Taste department are improving. Have learned to check the sugar content when buying bread. Sometimes its as much as 5g!

As for sausages, Jimmy Deans work with HP sauce🙂. Have also found Sharwoods and Patak curry sauces.

Tunnocks Caramel Wafers.😊 An ideal accompanyment with a cup of tea. All sorts of confectionary is available too. Thats the cravinhs attended to.

Its all comin together😊😊😊

Cost Plus/World Market has some imported UK and european foods.  We get baked beans and vegemite or marmite there.

Husband is from NZ, but I lived in the UK and my kids are dual citizens, so we order stuff from Amazon, like Barry's Irish tea, Branston Pickle, English crisps, Bisto, lemon curd, etc.  Even some English and German household cleaning supplies I'm partial to, lol.

About once a month I find PROPER back bacon at the supermarket I like to go to. It probably helps that there are a lot of Brits in the area. It's made by Beeler's and comes from Iowa. https://www.beelerspurepork.com/product/british-back-bacon/ You can buy it online there for $7. It is to my Scottish husband's palate more than acceptable. There is a touch of sugar in there but it is not noticeable -- I didn't even realize it until I just looked now.

Was in the local Publix grocery store and found Tunnocks (Yes, TUNNOCKS!) Caramel Wafers. Seem to be readily available down here. This shop had a wee British section😂

First, repeat after us:  "Give me liberty, or give me Tunnocks Caramel Wafers!"

And mean it when you say it, fellow patriot.

Could you not just make the bread yourself? I'm only asking because when I moved from NC to rural Canada to be with my husband 10 years ago, this is what I had to do to get decent biscuits there since the local grocery store didn't carry them.
