As others have said, nothing really changes until Biden gets sworn in in January. Trump is going to get lawyers and try every trick up his sleeve to stay in office, but come January 20 he will walk out the door of the White House or they’ll escort him out.

Where were you this whole time USCIS needed funding and was not given any despite Dems trying to push for it? Living under a rock? Lmao. And to be completely honest both options Trump/Biden are just as bad but hey not much any of us can do about it. Feel sorry for all the sheep out here for one side or the other

USCIS is a self-funded agency. They live off of fees from the applicants. Since when did the govt have to support this place?

This wasn't our experience.
POE Oct. 31, 2016

AOS filed Nov. 18, 2016
Green card received April 1 2017
N400 approved July 8 2020
Citizenship Oath Aug 20, 2020.

Without Covid, we would have been done in May.

Biden wanting to give citizenship to Illegals already here will probably slow things down.

I filed my AOS application 20 months ago. I haven’t even had an interview yet. It’s my understanding this is because Trump implemented a new requirement that every applicant has to have an interview, vs before where only the ones suspected of fraud. This is despite every study that’s ever been done proving interviewing every applicant as ineffective in weeding out more fraudulent applications. When I filed (March 2019), the max amount of time from filing to interview was 14 months. Last week it came down from 35 months to 27. This is a direct effect of everyone needing an interview. If Biden reverses this dumb interview requirement that was only meant to slow immigration down because it couldn’t be abolished completely then I’ll be quite happy. The strain of being in limbo for so long really affects you. Glad you and your spouse didn’t have the same experience as others.

Right and during the Trump era applications decreased significantly so less applications = less money. They needed the funding and was refused any of it despite new immigration policies being the direct cause of applications decreasing. Increasing fees didn’t even help. C’mon we’re all adults I don’t think any of this is hard to understand

Then they should choose Canada to immigrate, not the US. TIA.

Do we choose who we fall in love with? Maybe you have (who knows). But not the rest of us. Many of us come to the US because we do not have much choice. Left all my stability behind for love. Not all of us come from third world countries looking for a better life lmao

If it's real love, you can wait. What's the problem with waiting one or two years? Skilled workers have to go through a much longer process than those getting their GC via marriage. The immigration system is there for everyone, not just you.

Interesting, back when my wife was going through AOS those getting interview waivers were waiting 12-14 months or longer to get their GCs, and those getting interviews like my wife were getting GCs in less than six months.  There were a lot of members asking how they could get on the interview path.  I have never heard the supposition that only those suspected of fraud were brought in for an interview back then, and I assume if that was the case everyone would experience a Stokes interview which to my knowledge and personal experience is not the case.  There are a lot of factors that affect processing time, but re-instituting interview waivers, which is something I would not disagree with, is no guarantee that processing times will decrease.

First, cut your "we're adults" bs, that makes you sound like children. You clearly don't get the point. USCIS runs on fee. Less application means less fee, hence staff cut. If Biden is to let the illegals submit the application with fee waived or no public charge applied, it will be worse.

If people dont complain about the process nothing will improve. Practical steps need to be taken to improve immigration process so it's fair and gets completed in a timely fashion. Looks like you didnt suffer being separated from your spouse for more than 1-2 years so you wouldn't know how it feels. If you dont want to see the system improve at least stop discouraging others from making a difference. If you think it's not a problem being separated from your spouse/children for 2+ years then it's not worth the energy to even reply to you

If you’re so pissed about everything maybe you’re better off going back to Vietnam. Believe me I will be going back to Europe as soon as my spouse can leave the US. Doesn’t seem like Biden is the best candidate for petty people like yourself. If your love is so real I’m sure your spouse wouldn’t mind moving to Vietnam right?

I'm not pissed about anything. I went through the process the same way as others. I had to wait and wait and wait. I also had to postpone the start date at my current job because the USCIS didn't respond to my EAD expedition request. Nothing was easy for me but I knew it's the game I had to play. And adios, good luck with your life in Spain.
