Hi all,

So my wife and I have her AOS interview coming up this week. We submitted the affidavit of support with our original application. The interview notice says to bring an affidavit of support unless already submitted so I assume we should be good, but my/our financial situation has changed greatly since we sent the application. We bought a house so I don’t have nearly the amount of cash I did before and my investment portfolio has changed a lot as well. Do we need to update them on our current financial status or do we not need to worry about it?

Once you get to interview stage, you are good.

I handed a new one to the officer at my interview after I said my husband changed jobs, we didn't use assets.

Did he request it or did he just accept it and say thank you?

I asked if he needed a new one, he said yes. So I gave it to him with an employment letter.

If your job didn't change (main source of income for the affidavit), I wouldn't worry.

We recently had our interview. The officer didn't ask for a new one. Since my spouse changed job and our assets changed, we decided to take one along with new letter of employment to be on the safer side.

We had our interview last week.   Everything had changed for us as well because I retired.   So the officer only wanted to see proof of current income (Social Security and Pension in my case), but didn't want to see proof of assets in any way.   We overprepared probably because I had updated proof of current assets and they didn't ask for it.   They did ask if anything big had changed financially and I said no, that was the end of that.
