Hi there! For whoever that is on the same situation as me.

I never received the biometrics letter (thought it wasn't a big deal because I read they could use your biometrics form the Green Card) and decided to call USCIS to check on my case and get an extension/document that will show that I am still a permanent resident. They told me they sent a biometrics appointment letter a few months after the application but I never received it (yikes).  Also, they have my information related to the I 751 wrong, like SSN and birth date, but only for that form, good on my general file.

Anyways, since I called USCIS to get an info pass, it took three weeks until I went to my appointment and they also sent me a new biometrics letter. In the first call they tell you to wait for their call in a couple of weeks, then they set up the appointment.

Everything went smooth (I am at Chicago, they were great and super nice) and I got my case updated and an official document saying I am a permanent resident for another 12 months.

I just got the biometrics done, over a week ago. Anyone that knows of a similar case? I wonder if they don't touch your case until they have the biometrics, which would put me at the end of the queue, or if I am still at the same estimated time as anyone else.

Let me know if you know of a similar case. I will update my case here in case this can help someone else!

Thanks!

I don't have a similar case. Sorry to ask, but you didnt get a extension letter when you filed for I-751 for 18 months then? Or do you have a I-551 stamp on your passport?

Once biometrics is done, usually there is an unknown time to finalize your I-751. We got an RFE and responded to it and then it got transferred to a different Service center and since then no movement at all.

Which service center is your case at (you can tell by the first thre letters of your notice NOA)?

I would try to check regularly (once a week or so) at USCIS.gov  on your online account to see the latest updates there. Not a bullet proof way, but better than having to call.

No worries, happy to answer. Yes, I received the extension letter, which is the confirmation of the I-751. Because of the 18 months coming to an end soon, I decided to get the I-551, so that's what I got yep.

LIN, Nebraska

I check my case online regularly. I simply didn't get any updates since my case was received, and thought it was okay.

Thanks!

oh wow, you already used up your 18 month. So your I-551 stamp is only good for 12 months then?

Unfortunately, LIN from what i can read here has barely given re-use of biometrics just a few weeks ago for some Novemeber and December 2020 filers

For YSC, we haven't heard ANYTHING since receiving the 18-month extension. no biometrics either. Anyone seen any movement there?

YSC here. I got a biometrics waiver letter (on 03/12/2021) after getting my 18 -months extension. But after that, nothing since.... You can always use google sheet to track how things are moving. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b8qNTxz14bzeqOY0Pzk-F0NAWwB42Mr9ypfpwwgm1VU/edit#gid=0

Yep, I got my 18-month extension in December and nothing since. people who filed after me have gotten their biometrics waiver and its been 6 months since I applied without a biometrics. Seems YSC is just slow..

Yes, somehow slow. Nobody has been approved going by information on the google sheet.

does anyone know the phone number and the options you have to dial to get a human to answer?

Im very concerned due to what Javi tenía from Chicago said, want to double check that I didn’t miss any notice.

Saying infopass, or technical difficulties seems to be the best way to get through to a human

It’s infuriating to see the recent LIN filers getting their biometrics waived while plenty of LIN November filers haven’t heard a peep about theirs.

Biometric appointment/waiver desert for us CR-1's continues...

tenor_tumbleweed.gif.9da259fba563f995f1ac09d131f3413a.gif

On a positive note, I received today a corrected I-797 by mail after more than four months of waiting. Hopefully won't be needing another InfoPASS appointment until July '22. And the InfoPASS lady had nerve to claim that my name doesn't need to be correct on the I-797 for valid international travel...maybe she should pay for any incurred costs in case airlines refuse to board me with a wrong name on my document (error that was due to USCIS to begin with) :jest:

By the way, I almost learned this the hard way regarding USCIS Tier 2 callbacks: when they call you, ANSWER! They promised to call me within 14 days as my issue was considered to be "non-urgent", but I actually received the call in a week or so. I was on a train going to apply for a new passport when they called the first time, and would have been so mad if I had missed the second call. Fortunately he called back within just 10-15 minutes. You will receive instructions from the Tier 1 agent as well, but you should be receiving the call from a (202) number.

Getting there, slowly but surely...  (I hope )

Together (well...mostly the Transatlanticism kind of together) Since 12/2013

CR-1:

Married in Sweden 8/2017
(Well Frontloaded) I-130 Sent 12/2017
CR-1 Approved 10/2018
POE LAX 01/11/2019

I-751:

I-751 Package Sent with UPS 11/11/2020
I-751 Received by the AZ Lockbox 11/13/2020
I-751 Check Cashed 12/31/2020
I-797 (with My Last Name Misspelled...) Received by Mail 1/2/2021

Biometrics Appointment Received by Mail...too bad I am in Europe right when it's supposed to take place 🤯 6/14/2021

Rescheduled Biometrics Appointment, the biometric technician can't change the misspelled name on file, but he enters the correct spelling of my last name as an alias 8/2/2021

Interview Ready to Be Scheduled 10/13/2021

(Two Days Later) Interview Was Scheduled 😱 10/15/2021

I-751 Interview, Petition Approved 🥳 11/19/2021

Case Status Changed to New Card Is Being Produced 11/19/2021

Case Status Changed to Case Was Approved 11/22/2021

Green Card Arrived in the Mail (Name Correctly Spelling, w00t) 11/27/2021

When USCIS Misspells Your Name:

Typographical error form filled on USCIS website 1/4/2021
Contacted USCIS if there has been any progress since THEIR error (Received a Tier 1 tracking number) 2/6/2021
Contacted USCIS again as the issue remains to be resolved (Received ANOTHER Tier 1 tracking number) 3/12/2021
Apparently USCIS chat is worthless; CALLED USCIS, Tier 1 agent promised that a Tier 2 agent would call me 4/28/2021
Received a call from a nice Tier 2 officer who said I may or may not get a correct extension letter, but just in case I would be scheduled an InfoPASS appointment 5/4/2021
Went to local USCIS service center and had to deal with a nasty and entitled customer service agent who refused to give me an I-551 stamp. National Benefits Center is supposed to mail me another I-797 within 7-10 days... So I had to waste my day, taking buses for two hours one-way just to deal with this lady's attitude? 5/7/2021

After anxiously monitoring our mailbox for a few days I DID receive a corrected I-797, w00t! All documents good to go Vaccinated Ready to visit my parents in Europe for the first time in 17 months!!  5/13/2021

The lesson: Don't use the chat for anything complicated, AND keep hassling USCIS for a response...
