Actually, the affidavit is not recommended. It IS something you can use, but no where is it "helpful" to have it.
It is the weaker of all evidences, along with photos.

USCIS asks you for evidence of a bona fide marriage. A couple of people saying your marriage is real means really nothing. It's just as good as saying "here's a photo of me and my husband." It's nice- but anyone can lie and make those up.

Focus on hard evidence, financial documents- joint accounts, taxes, beneficiaries on insurances. Those are the winners.

I, along with a ton other people did not put an affidavit. Don't delay sending out your package just because of an affidavit.

Well I got the "recommended" from USCIS website, that's why I said that hahha But you are absolutely right, the other supporting documents are way more important.

Thank you Emekus! I keep telling my husband,

that if they hear us fighting they will

know we are married for real lol! JK 🤣🤣 he is an amazing husband and I’m the fighter lol. I sent joint accounts, joint insurance, birth certificate of our baby son, joint taxes, joint lease and joint bills.
Hope that was enough!

Okay guys! Submitted my package today!
Hoping for the best!

I included a cashiers check bc I don’t have checks with my husband had been telling me for months to ask for them (I forgot 😞)  so worried bc I won’t be able to confirm when they cash it and the money is already debited from our account so I’m just praying there won’t be anything wrong with my package.

this group is awesome! I wish I found it before I pay our millions to the lawyer for the green card 😬

Definitely in it for the long haul. If only USCIS will visit my home and give me the citizenship... would be nice. ha

Good luck to us!

Marla, did you submit the G-form for notifications?
IF you did that, then I think you're in the clear.

From what am seeing, most people get their notifications as their checks clear so if you get that, it's as good as knowing your check has cleared.

Try to stay calm
Too early to panic with these people called Immigration. ha

Marla, your close to us!! We're just up the road in Prosper... maybe we'll see you guys if we all get in around the same time for interviews or oath swearing in. We plan to push for citizenship as soon as the 3 year rule hits and let it push through the ROC.

Also, yea long as you did the electronic communication form, its way better to follow that way.

My wife's and step-daughter's GCs expire next month.  I had the form filled out last year and just procrastinated getting the rest of it together to send.  So scrambling a little bit to get it all sent off tomorrow.  A couple quesitons:

1. I've seen a few folks mention using a credit card instead of sending a check.  But I haven't seen anywhere how that can be done.  Is there a special form for that?  Any advantage over check from a processing/speed perspective?

2. I see options to mail to one of 2 different addresses depending on whether you send via USPS or other service.  Any advantage of one over the other?  How are most folks sending theirs?

3. How are you physically mailing this massive wad of paperwork?  Putting it in some kind of binder and mailing in a box?  Just putting the stack of loose paperwork in a big padded envelope?  Other?

Thanks for all the help here.  The folks and forums here have been invaluable over the years.

2016/09/01 - I-129f mailed

2016/11/07 - NVC sent to consulate in Chile

2016/12/01 - K-1 Packet received

2017/01/13 - K-1 Interview - approved

2017/06/19 - AOS filed

2017/08/21 - AOS Biometrics

2018/12/20 - AOS Interview

We mailed it on the 16th and it arrived on the 19th. Check hasnt been cashed yet, so hopefully soon. I fully expect it to take longer than a year though and not expecting any movement until we file for our citizenship next January though already so not getting my hopes up.

1 -  This one I am not sure about, I will wait. We just mailed a check from our joint account to have more evidence of a 'combined life.'

2 - Don't believe any benefit to either. We went with USPS since its a government to government hand off from the mailer. I imagine the only benefit would be getting in the system by a few faster but the wait is still long.

3 - Just an priority express envelope with a paperclip in the USPS letter.

About the credit card,, ask in the October 2020 forum, I think I saw people there using that form of payment, don’t believe me, but I think you need to fill out a form or so.

i want to do that and online filing for next form.
