Yes that's the form that I used. It says this in the top right corner: OMB No. 1615-0038. Expires 12/31/19.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-751.pdf

Hmm.. I wonder why they rejected yours if you used this form though.. In your copy, make sure you have all pages (11 pages) since I know some people got rejected because they filed incomplete form with missing pages.

So we figured out the issue. We have the correct form but the bottom of the page where the edition date and barcode is listed didn't print:(. For folks reading make sure you are printing out the entire page!

Jumping in this thread as I'm probly a Nov or Dec filer.

Filed mid Nov, package finally got delivered on Dec 28. Havent received my NOA1 yet, but I hear that's a common issue apparently...

So... hi everyone 👋

Hi. I filed nov 30 and it took aaaages to get there because of the delays. It was supposed to only take a few days. It finally arrived 26th December! So we should get our checks cashed and noa1 roughly around the same time! My gc expires next Friday so does my driving license 🙃  so im definitely on edge waiting right now.

Hi all, since you're the experts right now and I'm not going to file for a few months still -- you cannot send in I-751 until 90 days ahead of GC expiring, correct? And what if they take more than 90 days to approve and send 10 year GC? My husband's company will not let him continue to work one day past the expiration of his current GC. This is making me really nervous! I have everything ready to send in to remove conditions, but it's too soon still...TIA for any info or feel free to direct me to another board :)

I think he should check that out. Theyre not legally supposed to prevent you from working only if you are applying for a job in between gc expiring. It was on the uscis website. https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/complete-correct-form-i-9/completing-section-3-reverification-and-rehires

Hey everyone! I live in New York and filed for removal of conditions on November 20th with the Arizona office. Still haven't received the receipt/case number.

Good luck to you all!

I got my NOA today in the mail, the Vermont center will be processing my case

Hey guys, can you travel if you get your NOA but your green card has expired? Has anybody done so?

Thank you -- so helpful. How do you show the 18 month extension to your company once you file the I-751?

Once you get the extension letter you can just show it to your employer and they can make a copy for their files, which like I said before is not needed. As of right now, the NOA is taking 6+ weeks. So file early, but not before the 90 day window, because or will be rejected even by 1 day too early at the lockbox.

your 18 month extension letter will clearly state that it extends your GC for 18 months after the expiration date. If your state links your GC expiration to your DL it's also good to renew that. We did renew my wifes DL, which has not expired still. Different states, different DMV, different agents....you get the message. We got a DL for 18 months from date of renewal. Another VJ in the same city and different office in AL had theirs for 24 months.

Like anything, hopefully none of this ROC drags itself for more than 1 year, but California processing center is just ridiculous.

tons of ppl do that, that is why you have that extension letter (allows you to come back in the US). Because of Covid and other issues, verify that the airline you are using to travel back to the States is aware of your extension letter. Some airlines will deny you boarding, just because they don't know the process of immigration. Covid has also caused to be in a 14 day quarantine at arrival in other countries. Read the rules from where you are leaving and landing in the US. We (myself and my wife) are trying to avoid unnecessary travel outside the US or even inside like NY, NJ or such States with strict out of state rules. We traveled the globe before we got married and once after and then Covid hit us. We have been in self lockdown and going by car mostly to places.

Yes, you can work with an expired green card. Your status in the US has not changed, because you GC expired. Of course if someone forgets to apply on time, that is another story. The NOA will take time since there is delays of around 6 weeks after they received your package at the lockbox. Could be less.

No, if your drivers license expired, you are not allowed to drive period. Risk is yours if you get caught with expired DL.

The DMV is correct, without a NOA (aka extension letter) they are unable to verify your immigration status. Certain states link your GC expiration date to your DL. Many here have the same problem.

Has anyone traveled using their NOA? Did you have any issues coming back, either with the airline or at immigration?

With immigration you would not have problems, since they are the ones issuing the Extension letter.

The airline, is a different matter. You have to call and ask if they are aware of this letter, but plenty of people fly in-out of the country and come back w/o problems.  Your expired green card in conjunction with your NOA is what authorizes you to get on that plane back to the US. If you had EAD/AP combo card and used it...this is the same situation.

Fee may be refunded in certain cases:

I follow a youtube immigration lawyer.  She claims that one of her customer received her fee for biometrics back $85. WOW!! They re-used the clients prior biometrics or waived it as it is called. She said they filed with 2 different checks. One for $595 and another for $85. The biometrics fee was returned. Is this true? Has anyone gotten their fee back? What would happen to credit card filers? She also stated that it will depend on the immigration officer handling the case. Please comment, cuz I think USCIS is a blackhole, once in it, it ain't coming back, LMAO.

My son just recently flew with American Airlines and the airline will not have problem if you have a valid passport any country. His was expired and it was a big issue for the airline, they did not care or took into account our green card. So as long, as you have a valid passport you can fly.
hope it helps!
