That is my understanding. Others can correct me if I am mis-stating something.

There's a date calculator on USCIS website too

Yeah I understand. I hope I get it before leaving. I m stressed, what if usps lost my letter.:(

Well, that is a different matter, the mail is still coming delayed, so that you know. At least in my neck of the woods. It has a 1 to 2 days delayed, currently. You cannot enter the country back or even board the plane back to the US w/o the 18 month extension letter.

when sending overseas, if you do still take your chances, use a courier that does not use secondary carriers, because in certain countries, UPS, DHL and Fedex are only represented. That means, third party couriers use the name to deliver, but it is actually not the UPS, DHL or Fedex company.

Yeah I know they won't allow me to board plane. Worst cse scenario, if I have to get a duplicate Can I do it from overseas? Any idea?

unlikely, from what i have read, your best bet if it a 911 trip. Go get a I-551 stamp on your passport

I talked to an agent last week about this. She said you can request to send the form to you again if it gets lost in the mail. www.uscis.gov/e-request.

But I did get it from USCIS. Will they sent it again if I lost it myself?

I meant it has been sent to me from california by my family. It will be a mailing issue but not from USCIS.

Hello! Silly question here but want to be extra sure I understood. If we got our green card dated 01/16/19, third year will be 22, so you can apply for naturalization October 2021?

thank you in advance

The easiest thing is to do your N-400 this time next year

You have a 2 year green card. U applied 90 days before expiration

Citizenship is 3 years from green card. Eligible to apply 90 days before

So come Nov/Dec 2021, we can all do N-400 IF you want to go the 3 year route
keep in mind, from what others said, it is a higher hill to climb compared to the 5 year route. for example, If you and spouse had ever lived apart, 3 year cannot be done.

Follow VJ guides. I plan to look into that over the summer when I get an idea of how GC is going.

I asked immigration officer at the airport (SeaTac) last month what happens if I do not have the extension letter with me airport. She said they can look it up in the system. But you will need to go to secondary room while they check everything.

You will need something to board the plane though if you make it on a flight back they won’t deny entry.

I was told by level 2 officer you can pay $575 at a consulate and get a I-551 stamp if you loose the letter while abroad.
