I decided to call USCIS this morning. Surprisingly, the waiting time was less than one minute. The agent couldn't find any receipt number in the system and advised me to email the lockbox support. So, I did... but received the automated email blabla. It's clear now that we won't be hearing anything until 2021. I-751 was received on the 16th. My GC expires this week. Happy New Year Everyone!

Yup! Unfortunately, it’s looking like that! I just wish we had more communication regarding the situation. In their latest stakeholders message on 12/15 they mentioned significant delays but 30 days to process! We all know we will be over 50-60 days while still waiting. Oh well! 1/8 is my waiting time deadline until I start reaching out to an attorney regarding what’s the best next option.

The fact of the matter is......some segments in the current us political landscape don't like not only the illegal immigrants, but all immigrants and pick on illegal ones only because legal ones are protected by law.
i believe this is precisely why they decided to make the legal immigration process difficult, barely possible. They chose to be inefficient  because they (USCIS) run on "fees" from us (with 0 legal/political leverage on them)  and not on "taxes" paid by voters. Because that is all they can do (for now).

Relax, this is not a race.

Not turning this political, but actually #45 tried to streamline USCIS at least twice that I know of. They asked for a grant to bail them out, and he said sure change your process to be part of the electronic age AKA e-paperwork, virtual interviews/oath taking, and it was pushed back on. So I will be sad on January 20th. Won't reply on this topic again, just wanted to share.

Glad to hear about the covid news and confirmation. That would make sense for a good cover for them especially with the limited staff. Least now we know that until we're 40-50 days in, not to worry.

I received an email response back from USCIS after my call with a live agent on December 14th. My call was in regards to my options of proof that I can provide to my new employer due to my green card expiring soon.

The employer is targeting my start date to be January 11th, however, there may be a possible delay in completing my background check and other processing. My green card expires on January 15th, so, I'm hoping I'll be called in sometime soon to provide that while it's still active...

The option I was given by USCIS is to receive a stamp on my passport to show my lawful residency status ONLY if my I-751 is processed into their system. My concern is that even after my green card expires and my paper is not yet in the system, I won't be able to do anything about it. 😭 Probably won't be able to start working either.

I'm really praying that my new employer will contact me soon or my paper will get processed by then. UPS confirmed that my package was delivered to USCIS on November 16th but I don't think there's a way USCIS can even confirm whether they actually got it or not...

Thank you for all the time you give answering and keeping this chat going wit so much helpful information!

I came with a B1/b2 visa, Mine says valid just with DHS authorization, is that the restriction?. I have my EAD but I don’t think I ever used it, I don’t even remember where I placed it, or did we give it back when we applied for the GC? I really don’t remember 🤦🏻‍♀️I want to start looking for a job  this coming week but my GC expires in the 01/16.
So, do I still have to go to SSN office to get that restriction off my SSN?

Yes- that's the restriction.

Your GC superseded your EAD. So your EAD is no longer valid.

U can only remove the restriction with ur valid GC/EAD.

My hubby was super lazy and never removed his so his is still restricted. lol

It's just a hassle going down to SSN so we never bothered. We plan to do it once he's a citizen and be done with it.

U can go down and do that if you want- but from my perspective, it has never really limited anything once you show the GC. The number will remain the same so it doesn't matter.

They were very nice as always and said there’s nothing on the system! Then started telling me to call them closer to my GC expiration date.

Am just simply upset with all this nonsense

Like did people STOP working come December 20th? it really is maddening that things are at a horrific standstill like this.

Literally everything is crawling

If you look at October (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13RCTakDzgWAidVNgroLIjgVsgg4RpMhvHo531eS0S0M/edit#gid=0)- it seems people that got NOA since middle of November are now just getting bio-metrics. so am not sure how backed-up they are
But it is terrifying

I have been following this conversation and wanted to post my story in case anything is of help to others. I’ve found the intel on this message board so helpful. My green card expired on Dec. 5. My lawyers organized my application and it was delivered on Nov. 5. It was only when I was reading conversations here that I realized my lawyer had filed to Texas and not Arizona. When I informed them they resubmitted another application to Arizona which was delivered on Dec. 8. I also tried numerous times with my lawyer to speak with a tier 2 agent. The first time they called I was in the shower and they never called back. I am currently waiting for another call. To make matters much more serious I had to travel internationally after the green card expired and of course when trying to re-enter the country I was denied boarding. I am currently in the U.K. locked down with my 4 month son (a US citizen) and my husband is at our home in the US with my two year old son. It has now been two weeks since I’ve seen my husband and son- it’s truly heartbreaking to be separated. My senator is now helping but has so far only found out that I do not have any application pending and the lockbox has no record of either application yet. I have had mixed messages from many parties about whether the Texas application will ever see the light of day, or whether anyone will be able to help expedite given the situation my family is in. I share this only because many people have said they will seek attorney guidance and local respresenatives to help them get answers and even though I have both, I am still in limbo. It’s good to hear that payments have started being taken again. I am hoping USCIS have a plan to clear the backlog in a timely manner but am doubtful. Good luck to everyone, this is an absurd situation to be in!
