I called USCIS today, filing date nov 12. They said there is nothing on file yet and I just have to wait, apparently they have a massive backlog! I guess just wait, driving me crazy 😅😆

Hey we are in the exact same boat. My application was delivered on nov 12 and I called them this morning, but no luck, they haven't filed yet.

I spoke to an USCIS agent yesterday regarding my I-751 package. I was calling to figure out:

1. where I'm currently at in this process.

2. if the facility filed my petition yet.

3. the procedures I'll need to follow since my GC expires next month on the 15th - I'm currently going through the hiring process with a new employer (interference with work authorization?)

I informed the lady that the package was received on their end on November 16th, 2020. I have not yet received anything for confirmation. She said she couldn't locate my paperwork in the system, meaning that they have not processed yet. Per this lady, the current timeline is about a month behind. Due to my current situation, she suggested that I schedule for an info pass. She said that this would provide a documentation to prove that I'm a lawful resident and my paperwork in currently being processed. I've been put in to the que for an appointment within the next seven business days.

Not sure if this is what everyone else is doing but I was suggested to do this yesterday.

Warning to everyone, do NOT use USPS... I sent my file on 11/7 and "delivered" 11/11 or 11/10. It never marked as delivered, but an USPS agent assured me that it just wasn't scanned in (they say this happens often). Soooo I took their word and thought it was ok. Today, I went back to USPS to see the exact see what day it was received, AND THE LAST WEEK ITS BEEN MOVING AROUND THE WEST COAST ALL OF THE SUDDEN. I'm furious, frustrated, overwhelmed, and now set back about 1.5 months. Please don't use USPS.

You’re right: if they gave you a specific address in the notice of rejection, then do as they say. Use USPS in that case to deliver your package to a P.O. Box. Now, it’s up to you if you want to add a signature request upon delivery. It is useful in case that something happens and they say they never received anything. We used signed delivery for this package and always have for all the packages we’ve ever sent them (K-1, AOS), and we haven’t seen any delays. It’s just the person who picks up the stuff from their P.O. Box signs off on it; I don’t see how might put a delay on your case. And when I called earlier today to USCIS asking about my case (filed in early November but had not gotten any sort of notice), the agent asked me twice what I meant with "delivered." I explained to him that I had sent our package via certified mail and I had signed proof that they received it. Then he went on their system and looked up our case.

Hey thanks for the advice I decided to go with the signature. I sent it by Priority Mail Express next day delivery guaranteed. It cost me like 60 bucks total 0_0, but now is not the time to try to save some money. GC expires on January 23rd, 2021 I hope it gets there this week with all what is going on.

Update: I spoke w/ USPS and if you delivered date was the 11/11 or 11/10, you may have been effected. I spoke with a gal in Consumer Affairs and she said multiple packaged to the AZ lockbox were incorrectly routed to Nevada. They were then "delivered" there, but then resent back to Phoenix and arrived to the lockbox around the 28th. She said the system doesnt allow them to mark as delivered twice, so it wont show as delivered at the Lockbox. This is INSANE.

Omg you are brilliant. I had the same question, can I still work while waiting on NOA1. Because I have a feeling my GC will expire before I get the notice. I've been calling and asking people, and no one could give me a clear answer lol If you dont mind me asking, How do you schedule an info pass appointment?

Well if you're already employed with them, it shouldn't affect you, based on what I read in this thread. My concern was that since I'm applying to new jobs, they will ask for some sort of authorization and I didn't want my expiration date to interfere/chance it. But you can get a hold of them by calling their regular customer service number. Once you've reached the automated system, say "schedule appointment" and then "info pass". This should take you to a live representative.

Good luck!

Thank you for sharing this, much appreciated! Please, let us know the outcome of the actual infopass.

Relax, this is not a race.

Well then-
This is insane indeed. Someone said a few weeks ago that it's really a hassle anywhere because u can't verify if "delivered" means delivered. Guess they were on to something

Sorry this happened OP. But glad it has been rectified

This is the issue with backlog. Had things stayed within a 5 day window, you would have been able to properly follow up.

USPS has been a hot mess. I personally sent my pal a package priority and it took 10 full days to arrive (almost missed her birthday!)

Not sure how UPS and FEDEx are doing either. I caution everyone to send their things early
The Holiday period is simply a horrible time in America for all mailing systems

I second DO NOT use USPS. I sent my package last Wed using overnight express. It just got to Washington DC distribution network yesterday, no updates since. I am from Philly, could have driven it to DC faster. I understand that they are overwhelmed and dealing with a lot of factors, including Covid. However, they should not have guaranteed any specific date for delivery and should have notified me of what to expect when I dropped of the package. I was hoping that express would be treated differently than standard mail, but I guess they are treating everything the same due to the volume of packages they are processing. How am I supposed to know if my package is lost, currently in-transit, or just sitting someplace until it gets processed if they are not updating frequently? Frustrating and stressful. Especially since I am already late with the application and re-submitting a rejection. Nothing to do but be patient.

Hey November filers, does anyone knows how many days the office will close for the holidays? Just trying to figure it out how many  more weeks we will need to add to this torture 😭

Exactly, if the wait time was significantly shorter, I honestly wouldn't have been fussed. But knowing I filed nearly right when I could, and then having this set back is a HUGE bummer. Literally lost it this morning our of pure frustration. Ergg.. wont hear back for a few more weeks now. This is why USCIS needs to get all their applications online! Its 2020.. chop chop 🤪

Because of their incompetence we lost almost 2 months.... I was so angry when my husband told me.... Good Luck everyone most likely he is going to be a January filer.... We just have to make an info pass appointment because his gc expire on the 31st...
