Well, let’s see if and when that comes in as an actual policy. We’re still waiting for Mexico to build a wall (admittedly a visa policy change is probably a little easier, but). Also approval for F1/F2B categories I think still takes a few years, so she wouldn’t come “straight away”.

The timelines are indeed a little daunting but the best approach is essentially to apply and then forget about it until you get the call for documents (about a year before a visa will be available), and reconsider then in terms of what is going on in their lives, priorities at that time etc. I’m a big fan of keeping all your options open.
