The repartee, reasoning, and camaraderie in this thread have risen to high levels in this thread since the, uh, recent administrative events herein.

I'm giving upvotes to posts that are well-stated and respectful even if I disagree with the points being made.  Perhaps many or most of us here concur that there has been great improvement, and that we can "disagree without being disagreeable."  Thank you to everyone, and let's keep it up.

in all fairness, we also have some power to control the responses we see and respond to that might take us down the path of uncivility, i made use of that option

I agree, it would definitely be a stretch and my understanding of the recount requirements in AZ is that even with the margin that is there now, it would not trigger anything automatic.

There will be some states where the Trump administration may want a recount but would have to pay for it themselves. That will be the next indication of how serious they are about challenging the election. Like I said, they should take all the time they need, but they should also not be obstructing the Biden transition process. Trump has the legal right to challenge the outcome, but there is nothing in the results at the moment that allow him to claim victory.

Even if challenges are legitimate and end up dragging on beyond the normal time frame, Trump's term still ends on January 5th and the new president is not sworn in until the outcome is resolved.

Anyone see the irony in the fact that here in Gawja for the last 2 years the Dems have been crying that systematic racism and voter suppression is rampant and the Pubs have been saying our elections are fair and they are just sore losers and looking for any excuse.

And then just like that they swapped sides of the stadium .

If you don't like liberal policies, you should be angry at Trump. His 4 year long circus is what allowed the Democrats to take the presidency.

As much as Trump's denial is harmful to the country, there's a part of me that is just fine with him denying the obvious. I want to see this man crushed, not just bankrupt and sued, but his very soul crushed by this misery. I want him destroyed.

On even that one single issue, If president Trump had acted and responded with actual leadership, he may have had enough to support for a second term. Trump supporters seem to spread blame in every direction except the one place that it is deserved. Republicans held off challenges in the senate and picked up seats in the house, but lost the presidency. There is a reason for that.

If you don't like liberal policies, you should be angry at Trump. His 4 year long circus is what allowed the Democrats to take the presidency.

I still say that in the case of a pandemic, the blame is and should be spread to several people including Trump.  His stupid COVID news conferences became a joke, but there are a lot of governors that deserve a great deal of blame in our Republic.

January 5th is end of the current presidential term. In the (hypothetical) scenario that the election is still in dispute, the current president does not continue to hold office. The speaker of the house assumes the role of president until the election outcome is resolved.

They tend to do that, historically. Identity politics only work if both sides are playing the same game.

it wasnt duress, apparently he was paid

apparently now he is recanting his recantation, and some sources allege that the money came through "donors" or ties to Project veritas, its unclear who, but there is this, so i tend not eo believe anything from those idiots in project veritas since they are apparently paying people for fraud allegations, and anyone who knows anything about them understands they are fraudsters

So...looks like the audio that Project Veritas said proved that Hopkins didn't recant his claims actually shows that he did recant his claims.

Quote

On Tuesday, following a story in The Washington Post that quoted officials as saying Hopkins had recanted his earlier claims, Hopkins said in a YouTube video that he had not done so, and that the recording of the interview would show as much.

During the recorded interview, however, federal agents repeatedly reminded Hopkins that his cooperation was voluntary, and Hopkins agreed to sign a document stating that he was not coerced.

Asked by an agent whether he had legal representation, Hopkins said Project Veritas had a lawyer on retention “in case there’s anything that happens.” The agent told Hopkins that if he had a personal lawyer, “I would make whatever efforts possible to have that person here.” Hopkins said he didn’t have a lawyer.

Hopkins also repeatedly expressed regret for signing the initial affidavit because it overstated what he knew and witnessed, according to the recording.

He told agents the affidavit was written by Project Veritas.

He said he was not fully aware of its contents because he was in “so much shock I wasn’t paying that much attention to what they were telling me.”

He can't have it every way. In the recording he admits that he only heard bits of conversation and put them together to make the narrative that was in the first affidavit. He faced tough questioning but frankly this is the inspectors' job: to find the truth. Nobody threatened his life or his family's life. I don't think we can trust a single thing this man says at this point.

Excellent, if you felt the need.  More people should avail themselves of this, and not just in this forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
