I can't speak for Rubin's hyperbole here, but honestly? The Republican party as we once knew it has been burned down, rolled over, trashed, crashed, and destroyed. The person who did this was DT himself. As Graham once prophetically said, "if we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed, and we deserve it". He knows this well enough, even as he is a savvy political creature and has mucked in the slime to stay alive. He knows the game so do most in Washington, and we should not kid ourselves here. I suspect most in the party are done to death with him, and are relieved even as they go on TV to make calculated defenses.

All of these links are right wing propaganda sites but even from the reading them, it's clear that this is based on a Tweet about "every official, politician, executive, and media mogul whose greed and cowardice enabled this catastrophe". i remember in one of the conversations i had here, a staunch Trump follower complained that I provided links of a guy with heavy liberal bias (it was a video of John Oliver explaining stuff, in Last Week Tonight, which was fact based!) , but no complaints when others provided Rush Limbaugh as a reference. 

Man the cognitive dissonance !

One man cannot "destroy" an entire party, which is nonsense because getting a party more popular with more broad appeal isn't "destroying" anything just because the people losing popularity are upset about it. He didn't infiltrate the Republican Party. This idea is pure fantasy. Trump simply read the trends of populism and appealed to it. If anything ask yourself why neocons like Lindsey Graham need to flounder around with their views like a fish out of water. The guy never liked Trump he just wanted to stay in the Senate rather than do what the other deranged neocons did and jump to Democrats.

John Oliver? He is known as someone who cherry picks his facts to fit the narrative of his show. I used to watch him every week until he went diehard on the never Trump train.

TBH I find that Rush and JO to be on the same level pretty much
