Laches is one of those throwaways in an answer that you never know when it might be useful, so you always plead it. But looking at the ruling and the law cited by the court, it could not be more clear: the plaintiffs sat on their rights, and did not enforce them. PA law seems to indicate that they had 180 days to act, and yet they did not. It's not strictly a statute of limitations issue here, which the court points out, but it does indicate that there was something that might have been enforced but for...? (Fill in underpants gnome issue here.)

 

Equity is a wonderful and squiggly issue of Anglo-American law which provides relief where it's often unclear. Underlying it all is the concept: what is fair? Sometimes black letter law provides no or little guidance, so the court must weigh the equities between the parties. Here, the equities were weighted in favor of all the PA voters who in good faith cast a vote. Why should their actions be discounted? The court saw otherwise.

As far as filthy rich, setting aside Trump Tower and the Apprentice, most of his ventures have been disasters. We shall see what awaits the man when he looses the POTUS mantle.

 i think staunch supporters definitely failed to watch all the expose of the scams and grift he had done, taking people's money, effort and time but not honoring his end of the bargain - Trump University is one of the examples. 

 

And once he is out of the office, the debtors are gonna collect what's due..
