Greetings fellow sufferers.  Its been quite some time since I last checked in.

Ok, here we go...

Our package was sent to Kyiv in Jan (2020) and in Feb/Mar received the email that the interview was scheduled for mid July.

PROBLEM:  We were In So. Africa visiting our daughter, due to return the end of Apr.  THEN they locked us down end of Mar.

So, we had to cancel the interview and told that I had to reschedule online or through the Consulate call center.  Call center was useless, she only gave me the email that told me to call in.  We finally escaped the end of July and I've been hitting the same wall ever since I got back to Maine.

So, I've been trying to get on the scheduling page only to get a lot of "No appointments are available at this time" then a couple of months ago it changed to a page loading error.  Feedback emails have not resolved anything.

Does anyone know (actually know) what's going on in Kyiv?

I can't find anything on the Kyiv Consulate site (ustraveldocs) that says whether they're interviewing at all right now.

Thanks,

Tim

What i able to find is from the USCIS stats that in september 32 CR1 visas were issued along with 31 IR1's (not sure if this is new interviews or AP is done from previous interviews)

seems since the dv lottery interviews had to be completed by end of september ,   the embassy concentrated on them issuing 554 of the various DV class visas

Hello,

You need to check every few days to see if a date opens up.  Also, contact the embassy at KyivIV@state.com.  It is best for the USC petitioner to email them.  When my wife called and emailed, they politely brushed her off, basically.

Our case:

My wife's interview was sheduled in July by NVC, for Aug 28.  I (USC petitioner)  emailed KyivIV@state.gov, to try to reschedule.   I got an email response almost right away, stating that as of March 14 the embassy cancelled all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa processing.   A day later I received a more personal email from the embassy, stating that they had no other openings in August.

I emailed again the first week of August, and I got the same auto response (that the embassy cancelled routine processing).  Then a few hours later I received a second email, this time telling me that "as of today, we have open slots on Aug 20 and 21".  We used the online traveldocs portal to reschedule to Aug 20.

Hope this helps.

Edit:  Also, it's best to check at the last week of the month or the first week.  I think sometime in that period the embassy staff clears the calendar of cancellations and dates open up.
