Hi,

I had my H1b Visa appointment on Monday (2nd Nov, 2020) . It was an emergency appointment. I received my passport yesterday with the H1b Visa issued.Am I free to travel now to the United States or do I need any other approval from the US Embassy before booking my tickets?

Thanks

Kritz

First, check your airline website.  I know KLM and Air France has a section where you enter your travel documents (generic information - just that you have a passport and a US visa), and it tells you what types of visas they accept to allow boarding.

EDIT: Forgot about second. Second, contact the embassy to see if they can give you something about pre-clearance, if the airline seems obstinate.

We were approved for our H1b and H4 (was supposed to be O1, long story). My Visa page has a line on it that says ‘NIE  under PP novel coronavirus’. That was valid for 30 days from date of interview. I booked my flights through BA and when I got to Heathrow had to have it checked by a homeland security officer but that was very straight forward.

@Arrowword My visa doesn't have that line and it was issued just last Wednesday . Not sure what to do next.

@SteveInBoston I tried to contact the embassy but I haven't received a response.

@Kritz hmmm, I’m not sure then? Our journeys been a bit strange and we actually got our visa from Berlin, not London. So I don’t know if that’s the difference? I’m not sure if there’s anyone else on here who has recently got their H1b in London.
