Form DS-157

Hey everybody!

I am new here, I am a brazilian woman.

The parents of my Jeff send to NSC the form I129, but I am not sure about the day (maybe may,29), so, until now we didn´t received this NOA1. So, I don´t know if I start to count this 6 months (it is more or less the time for the process here in Brazil) in may,29, or if I need to wait this NOA1 for to start to make plans.

I read about what forms we need, and about DS-157....I read something in travel.state.gov that is just for male (??) Is that true?

voce vai receber essas instrucoes quando voce receber o packet 3 do consulado... la vai estar especificado os tipos de forms que voce vai precisar...

E honestamente, nao tem um modo para comecar a contar... oficialmente, seu processo so vai existir para voce a partir do NOA 1.. mas nao faca planos como comprar passagem, marcar data de casamento, porque tudo e muito imprevisivel.. pode durar tanto quatro meses quanto 1 ano

Ali,

DS-157 is required for male non-immigrant visa applicants between the ages of 16 and 45. It is optional for other non-immigrant visa applicants at the discretion of the consulate. Some consulates do require DS-157 for female K-visa applicants.

Check with the US consulate in Brazil to find out what their policy is. Or maybe the VJ Embassy Info section will have the information.
