Can I get a job that is US Citizen or Green Card required while still waiting for interview schedule (I have EAD)?

Hello everyone, I am interviewing for a job that requires to be US citizen or PR. I have an EAD so technically I can work. It's just I am not sure how to explain the situation to the employer? I am married to my husband who is a US Citizen so it's just a matter of time before I get my green card. Has anyone experienced this before?

Have you asked your employer ? most likely "NO"  EAD status is not the same as US citizen/PR

getting a green card is never inevitable. If the requirement is that your are CURRENTLY a PR or USC then at this moment in time you wouldnt qualify

I applied to a job this week that said the same thing. It was for Engineer. They said that some traveling and other stuff required the candidate to be either a citizen or LPR.

Not everyone has AP just because they have an EAD so they need someone who can travel outside the USA without issue.  That seems like a valid reason to need to be at least an LPR with a valid passport.

There are definitely jobs that require minimum LPR status. If travel is required it is because they need you to be able to travel. With your EAD/AP card there are still restrictions on travel. For example on a trip to Thailand thru China my wife was required to get at the minimum a transit visa ( Just to pass thru the airport on a layover) We learned rather quickly after applying for the visa at the Embassy ( All the way in San Fransisco, because they process Nevada visas not LA, and you have to apply in person, that the EAD/AP card is not enough for China to issue a visa, they require full LPR status ( Green Card, Passport, even an I-551 stamp in the passport would have worked) But we were sent packing with just an EAD/AP. I'm sure other countries have the same requirement. And I had to re book thru Taiwan instead of China.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

That's up to your employer. Let them know the situation and see if they'll be willing to wait. Some jobs will not even interview you if you are not a LPR.

Many jobs require the employee to be a US person for export reasons. If OP is an engineer, it's possible that his job will require looking at materials that only LPR or US citizens are allowed to view.

Ive seen federal government and similar official jobs that do specify LPR or USC (some USC only).  Sometimes they also specify that a security screening needs to be passed.
