Hello everyone!

So my fiancée had his second interview today, he said it went pretty well, and they even took his passport, the only thing they are waiting for now is the medical examination, and police certificate to get to them. Is that a good sign?

Hello everyone!

Normally when they ask for or keep the passport at the interview it means they feel confident that your medical will be clear and that they can now release your visa. Give it a little more time. In the meantime, keep an eye at ceac.state.gov for your status changes.

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you must select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". If you do not receive an update, try using "non-immigrant" as your visa type. If it returns your status under non-immigrant, then you are close to the issuance of the visa.

Do not sell your house, car, or property, resign from your job, or make non-refundable flight or other travel arrangements until you have received your immigrant visa.

When you receive your visa be sure to check it for any spelling errors and if you have any recontact the embassy for instructions. Be sure to pack the "do not open" packet in your carryon luggage. You will not enter the US if your packet is lost in your luggage. The paper envelope may appear to be torn and that is normal so disregard. Slit the underside of your passport to retrieve and leave the "do not open" envelope intact with the plastic covering for protection. Safe travels and I wish you much happiness in your new marriage.

May I ask why he needed to do the interview twice?

I did my K1 interview in March (in Sweden) and they still have my passport and I'm just waiting for things to change so that I can get the visa issued. I know that I will most likely need to redo the medical, but I'd rather not redo the interview (and potentially have to fight for an appointment with a lot of other people considering how the backlog they must have!)...

Well because he had an interview in March 2019 and then went into administrative processing afterwards for 19 months because of his nationality, travel history, etc.

I believe they do second interviews after long APs just to get updated information.
they still aren’t processing any K1 visas in Germany at the moment but because ours was qualified for NIE, they asked him to come into a second interview, and to re-new his medical.

I hope you get your visa soon, there is so much heartache in this process, and the long waits are just so painful. We have children involved and it has been extremely difficult. So I can understand what you are going through. I hope you get your visa soon and don’t have to wait too long
