i'm currently in bangkok and will be here for a few more weeks. one of the questions i've been trying to find the answer to is; will my fiance need more shots in texas when she applies for aos? my fiance basically had no history of shots and only has the medical exam paper (ds-3025) she got for the interview. i've looked and looked, but i have not been able to figure this out.

for her interview; she had her medical exam. the ds-3025 says they gave her a shot for Td, measles, mumps, and rubella. my fiance isn't much help and says she can't remember what they did (the interview was in january).

i'd like to avoid paying texas doctors for shots that i need when i may be able to get them here.

thanks for any thoughts

If you have a copy of that shot record, the only other vaccination that should be needed is for Varicella (Chicken Pox).

You would take that record, along with record of getting Varicella done to a Civil Surgeon in your area, and have the record transfered to a vaccination supplement I-693A for the AOS.,

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Generally all that's needed is Tetanus, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella. HOWEVER, TWO doses are needed of both MMR and Varicella (each dose I think about 4-6 weeks apart). If you have time, try to get the second dose and get proof (the doctor should give a receipt and maybe paste on the label from the bottle). Varicella especially is expensive here in USA (over $100 for a shot)!

My husband had to get the second dose of MMR and Varicella here because we didn't know he needed another dose (the USCIS doc here told us). After completing the doses, you just need to call around and find the most inexpensive USCIS-certified civil surgeon to write up the Vaccination supplement paper (we got it done for $30).

Good luck!

dvd,

Does the DS-3025 say that the vaccinations not given should be waived as medically inappropriate? Which box is checked at the bottom right of the form under item 2. Results?

If the form is marked complete, or incomplete but missing vaccinations are waivable and the medical reasons why are given, then she should not require any additional vaccinations in the USA, unless to complete a series that was begun but was not completed in Thailand.

Despite what others consistently advise you may not need to have a completed or incomplete but waivable DS-3025 transcribed onto the I-693 vaccination supplement form by a civil surgeon in the USA. My wife and others have not needed this. Your choice to spend the money to do it without being required to or wait to see if you will be asked to do it.

hello,

i appreciate all of the sound advice given today. thanks so much.

yodrak,

section 2. results

the box vaccine history incomplete is checked.

the box applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccinations not medically appropriate (as indicated above) is checked.

no other box is checked besides those two.

my fiance isn't home at the moment, but it looks like she was given a shot for Td, mr, mmr, and rubella. she already had the completed series for chicken pox. all of the other vaccines are checked not age appropriate. it looks like each of the mentioned vaccines were given on the date of the exam and the column labled insufficient time interval is checked next to each of these vaccinations. i assume she needs to complete them, but i didn't know if she needs shots beyond these once she enters the u.s.a.

my plan, as it stands now, is to have her complete the series of shots because the other posters have advized me that it will be necessary. is this plan complete though? am i missing something?

thanks

dvd,

Sounds like you understand and have a good plan.

My wife had her medical exam early enough before her interview to complete the series for those vaccinations that required a series, so her the DS-3025 that she turned in at the interview showed the series as complete. Her section 2 was like your wife's - incomplete but waivable with the same 'not age appropriate' explanation.
