Hello everybody,

I have been approved my CR1 visa today 😄😄 so I am really happy about it. However, there is a lockdown starting tomorrow here in the UK, so I am not sure if I will be able to leave the country once I received my passport. I asked today to the consular office who interviewed me and he mentioned that as far as he is concerned, I can enter the USA with no problem, but in terms of leaving the UK I would have to contact the UK government.

I contacted the travel advice team and their answer is that it applies to British nationals (which I am not, as I am Spanish) and that they cannot tailor an answer for my question, just follow the guidelines given and read the travel restrictions, very annoying!

My next step will be to contact the Spanish Embassy here in the UK and see if I can get an answer...maybe I cannot travel to the US but they allow me to travel back to my home country 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone got any information about travelling internationally from the UK to the US using the CR1 visa? Did anyone successfully travel and use the CR1 visa during the first lockdown back in March?

I appreciate any information that anyone can provide, all I want is to be reunited to my husband asap!!!!

Many have.

You are of course permitted to leave. You are not in prison. Immigration comes under 'essential travel'. Visas would not be issued if no one was permitted to leave the country at all - what a waste of time and resources that would be. The reason the person at the embassy couldn't give you a straight answer is because that's not his job and he doesn't want to be accused of giving false information, etc. It's the government employee version of 'no comment'.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Thank you so much for your answer 😃, it definitely gives hope! Everything is really ambiguous at the moment and the guidelines are not very clear.

Can't wait to have my passport back and book a flight! Have you taken your interview yet?

Yes, my interview was in December 2016. I arrived here 13 days later and am now impatiently awaiting my citizenship interview so that I can be done with USCIS forever.

Wow, that is exciting then! Has it been scheduled yet or are you waiting to have it scheduled? Best of luck! I know what you mean about being done with the USCIS...
