Just wondering if anyone knows anything about getting my family to the US, been waiting on a CR1 approval for 8 months, we  also have a daughter born a US citizen but they won’t open the embassy in Addis Ababa for me to register the birth. Is there anyway to speed up the process or get them here on the grounds that their lives may be in danger?

If the Embassy is closed not much to do. Obviously they should move to a safe place in the meantime.

I am so sorry you all (and Ethiopia) are in this situation. Given the turn of events and the fact that your daughter is a U.S. citizen and probably needs to be brought to safety in the U.S. by your wife, you might be able to expedite your case with that reasoning (maybe you are unable to go and bring her back because it would cause economic burden of taking leave from work/travel?). Sorry I don't have any information beyond that. My husband is in Ethiopia as well and I am so on-edge about everything despite him being hundreds of miles away from most unrest - I can't imagine how you are feeling if your family is closer to affected areas. Best of luck to you ❣️

I have also been separated from my husband who is in Tigray for 8 months. I am in the middle of trying to expedite his visa interview via an immigration lawyer, because they wouldn't accept my direct request several months back.

But even if they accept the expedite, I am not sure how the embassy or anyone would be able to reach him if this network remains shut off. so I guess I'm just really frantic with worry right now.

Tasha and Jacell, I'm sorry to hear you have family in Tigray. I know how difficult it must be with the internet cut off. Are they in Mekelle? I know the fighting is mostly outside of Mekelle so they should be safe in the city. I'm in Addis now- if there's anything I can do for you let me know. ❤️

They are in a town near Axum, so thankfully far away from the west. But apparently the federal army has taken control over Shire which is nearby, so I am still concerned. I am reading reports that people in Addis who look Tigrayan are being arrested, especially if they have weapons. It's as if Tigrayans are the new 'foreigners' facing hostility
