2020 Election Thread

PA legislature is moving forward with an election audit pending whatever is going on with SCOTUS today. Some of this deals with the roughly hundred or so PA GOP observers who will testify they were kept from observing and challenging ballots, against a court order. Democrats in their filed response don't even seem to challenge it.

Yep, but I found it relevant to update the thread given PA legislature was waiting on votes to be finished counting before they supposedly were going to initiate an audit and it looks like that's about to happen on top of the SCOTUS thing today and likely Monday for PA alone.

Well that doesn't seem to be an issue here or with any nearby state that counts early so far.

And you know this how?  If a clerk was feeding the early count to a campaign how would anyone know?

As one of my favorite podcasts says all the time:

Before the election, chop wood, carry water.

After the election, chop wood, carry water.

So much work to do now. Let's all roll up our sleeves and get down to hard work.

From the bunker?

The Professional Left Podcast. A middle-aged husband and wife who are proud to be from Middle America (they talk about being literally on the edge of a cornfield). The wife is a committed Christian and frequently speaks about the intersection of politics and religion.

For the SCOTUS to overturn an election the evidence would need to be so absolutely enormous and it’s yet to be seen.

Courts can't overturn an election. However, there's several things going on.. one of them is if these witnesses (the 90-100 observers or so cited) can demonstrate they were systematically prevented from being able to observe and challenge ballots, this could easily result in many ballots thrown out (the most obvious remedy), from the sounds of it, a hundred thousand in Philly and three hundred thousand in Allegheny. The odds of this happening look the highest of anything else, but still not that high. There's also other issues that have already been demonstrated such as dead people voting, but this is more finite and has certainty to result at minimum in those specific ballots tossed but of no major significance. The issue of software glitches is I think the toughest and thus flimsiest, reminds me of the Diebold controversy from the Bush years in Ohio. You knew something was shady and didn't make sense, but in the end couldn't prove anything and thus Bush carried Ohio for re-election. There's also documented issues with backdating postmarks. Sufficed to say there are numerous groups in specific regions of specific states that are doing their best to ensure people don't trust the results. Even if these challenges succeed it doesn't mean Trump wins states let alone the election, it would have to be demonstrated in other states as well, and I am in doubt it would be done. Still, if one thinks there's fraud, fight until the end. It would be dumb to allow it just because mathematically one would still lose.

I thought you were asking me if I was talking about the From The Bunker podcast. I said I was talking about the Professional Left Podcast. Because I had quoted from a podcast and I thought you needed clarification, but had not capitalized From The Bunker because you might have NBitis. :)

But I see you weren't so: what were you referring to?

I always love when folks take glee in others personal affairs.  Kind of sad really, but not surprising.
