It's really unfortunate that elections are not taken more seriously to ensure confidence in a vote. While I'd say the scope of failures and litigation dwarfs the hanging chads and Bush v. Gore, I really am skeptical any of these amount to anything that changes outcomes we're seeing unfold. It's just a big effing mess.

We handled things pretty well for vote counting in MD, but when it comes down to it in some counties, our tally is not even in yet because they are using slow flash drives to upload data. Nevertheless the vote went as expected in MD. Harris will continuing being the spineless do-nothing R that represents half of the entire state that he doesn't even live in. As expected Mosby is now on the B'more council making sure corruption continues, Klacik did not win as obviously expected and will probably be a Fox anchor, the super corrupt R's that cheated their way onto the ballot (against their own party no less) in my town managed to win (and already start a feud over keying an opponent's car and sign stealing). The best outcome of the night was for B'more mayor, in which we elected the youngest to hold office and has real promise in wanting to upend the 'old class'... though he still looks like a teenager. We also voted to expand gambling, because that's a thing, just like alcohol that MD is weird about.

On the bright side.. how many states are legalizing weed?

 

I definitely see your point about corruption and trust and its why I'm an independent..I just don't trust parties. I don't trust the way they've set things up. Chaotic elections like this just erode it further. I think many people however will kinda drift back toward the institutions that inflict it almost like a political Stockholm syndrome.

Unfortunately they said no more results today so we will have to wait until tomorrow to see what happens there

Yep its nap time in Nevada.. no rush guys we've got all year. 

 

I disagree with Steel though on that amount being that close.. I think it's a hard gap to overcome in a small state like that. 

 

I think WI elections says Biden won the state officially but of course Trump will request a recount and I refer to my post on the last page to check the SCOTUSblog link for lawsuits.

I'll definitely be getting flak in Canada from coworkers, many people that know me from volunteering at daughter's school, wife's coworkers (she still visits them even in mat leave), neighbors and so on about how the election is being handled. It's quite embarrassing.

I suppose once you understand how many mail-in ballots in some states were received, it's understandable why it would take a long time to count. On the 31st, MD had about 1.2 million mail-ins. The process was simple in requesting one and it was very simple to get it to where it needed to go. You could even track it and they would notify you if it was counted or if there was even a problem with it. There was no need for anyone in MD to stick the dang ballot in a mailbox and rely on those goofs at the USPS to leave it in the mailroom either (delivery has been terrible for months!) because we had dropboxes everywhere but I'm sure some did and i'm sure some will still be sitting at the USPS. Then of course we had early voting ontop of that.

 

In some states it seems that mail-ins and absentees were double or triple? the amount MD had and they weren't allowed to count them early because legislators argued against doing that. Ultimately something has to give and the system has to be made better to handle this new way of voting.

It's easy to tally the vote in Russian elections)) I'm sure they have many jokes about it. My ex-wife always had one handy.
