Yeah but there is a clear difference between saying youre going to win which every politician does and it fine and hopeful to say. And saying you ALREADY won which is clearly a fabrication. Because now if it turns out Trump doesnt win, a lot of people are going to think its because it was stolen. 

 

What is that old saying... Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Trump (and everyone) should do the same.

There are election deadlines that don't care if they ever even finish counting ballots they found under the rug so this mentality of count and chill (before counting again) doesn't jive. Yeah.. I saw updates early morning that gave Biden like 100k and Trump literally 0 (in Michigan I believe), didn't understand why. Also seems like there's more voters who voted than are registered in WI.. hopefully more info comes out on what's happening.

I had heard that as well.  Interesting how that works.  Not really following it very closely, but it seems very clear that the US is highly divided ideologically, and I don't think either Trump or Biden will change that.  Personally though, I am hoping James wins the Senate race in MI, I really dislike Gary Peters, who is another long-term career politician I can do without.

It looked damn near impossible statistically for Biden to catch up in both Wi and Mi like he did, when I wrote that 7 hours ago. I definitely see this getting decided in court if it sticks. Basically if we assume Trump takes North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, he still needs at least one of the other 3 where Biden is currently leading. Otherwise Biden ends up with precisely 270(based on like a 10k margin in Mi lol). Sidenote my wife spoke with her family in Wisconsin and not even one of them knows a single person who voted for Biden

How so? They have bee saying for DAYS now that it would take a while for the absentee ballots to be counted and that the bulk of those votes have been democratic and that those numbers would be coming in after the in person voting so its very obvious Trump would come out with an initial lead and very plausible for Biden to close the gap

Because Trump went in hard against mail in voting (which in previous elections has been more Rep than Dem), which caused there to be a shift in how people vote. Take for example Michigan, so far the split has been 68/30 for Biden in the absentee votes (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/11/03/us/elections/results-michigan.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage).  When the split is so large and the counting happens sequentially, its easy for there to be a large shift in the lead. This doesn't indicate that there was fraud or anything wrong. Keep in mind every single polling place has both Dems and Reps overseeing the count. If there was truly any funny business we would be hearing about it from those overseeing it. Disregard what any "pundits" are saying

 

Why do they need to wait until after? Thats a great question. Because a lot of the state laws require that they cant count mail in votes until after the polls close and because there are limited resources at the polls some states prioritize counting the in person votes first and then count the absentee ballots. This differs state by state, for ex. Florida was able to start processing ballots earlier therefore we initally saw Joe Biden lead and once more of the in person count started to come in Trump came out on top.

Regardless of who is declared the winner, there will be a group of lawyers that will make a lot of money.  I also wonder about why the absentee ballots are not counted ahead of time given the need to verify the identity of the voter, it only seems prudent to do that first then deal with the election day count.  I think though that many clerks around the country hope that absentee votes will not swing an election and therefore they have no need to count them in a speed fashion.

Ha agreed!. Re: the Pre Count for example in Michigan the SecState tried to amend the law last year to allow for counting the absentee ballots earlier but the Rep legislature rejected it.
