***procedural question moved from 'progress reports' to 'process and procedures'***

What does the text of the RFE notice say? Maybe something on the form was illegible or a question was missed or an old version of the form was used. It could be any of a number of reasons.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

It says absolutely nothing. No reason. Almost as though I never submitted it in the first place when I did.

That's your interpretation of what it says.  What does it actually say.  Please provide the actual text.

Presumably you kept a copy of the I-130a you originally sent, so just send a copy in response to the RFE.  Or use the information to fill out a new one, as they may prefer your original signature.  Either way, they want the I-130a so send one.  Good luck!

Sometimes they lose things.  Did you file by mail or online.  The foreign spouse does not need to sign the I-130a unless they are currently in the USA.

They're not in the US and the guidance form clearly states they do not need to sign it. In any case, i will have them fill it and sign then send by courier so I can send a signed copy.

I got a request for evidence for form i-130a even though I submitted it. What could be the reason for this?

Did you ever learn why your i-130a was deficient?  I received a similar vague RFE for my i-130a:

"The beneficiary, XXX, on Form I-130 must submit a properly completed and signed Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary. All pages must be present and of the latest edition. The latest edition of Form I-130A can be found at the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov"

All pages were included, signed, and it was the latest edition.  I submitted it electronically from the website.

Thanks for any insight you have.

Did you include page 7?  The blank page at the end?

The version that I submitted only has 6 pages and I included them all. (i-130a)  I'm thinking that they didn't like the phone scan I uploaded -- the page numbers at bottom don't appear.  What's maddening is you get one bite at the apple so it would be nice if they were a little more specific.  I appreciate your reply.

You need to make sure the entire page is visible.

Rescan the document again or fill it out using adobe and submit the pdf without signature (it is not needed if beneficiary is not in the US).
