Hello everyone -

I'm new to the forums but was wondering if anyone could help me out. My fiancé recently had his interview in Naples, Italy on 10/28 and was approved. We expedited the procedure due to a national interest exception. After he was approved, we were told that he would receive the visa in 4-7 days. Has anyone had any experience receiving a K1 visa in Naples and found this to be accurate? My fiancé is going to pick up the visa at the courier, we are not having it delivered.

Also, I checked the status of his visa and it was changed to "Application Received" on 10/29. The status mentions that if an interview was completed, to check back in 2 business days for another update. It has been 2 business days and we still have not seen a change in the status. I have read that the status should change to "Administrative Processing" and then to "Issued" when it is ready to be picked up. Does anyone know if what we're experiencing is normal or have a general idea when we could expect to actually get the visa?

Thank you!

Will he be required to quarantine outside the US for 2 weeks prior to entry into the US?

Not that I am aware of. It was not mentioned that he would have to quarantine for 2 weeks prior.

He can not directly enter the US from Italy currently. There is a ban from europe and fiances do not qualify for an exemption. He will first have to go to another country that is not banned for 14 days prior to his entry into the US.

We was approved for a national interest exception from the proclamation. That is how he was expedited for his interview and how he will enter the U.S. He will receive a stamp on his passport that will allow him entry. This is what we were told by the U.S. Consulate.

Got it. Then you just have to sit tight and wait. Give them a few days and just keep checking back. Once you see Issued then you should receive it soon

Sorry, meant to say He was approved*, ignore the error. Yes, patience is a problem but I'm trying my best.

First, It has just been 2 business days since 10/29  (10/30, 11/02), so perhaps the status will change tomorrow.  Regardless, I would give the embassy 7 busiiness days before following up with them.

Second, after your fiance gets his passport back, please verify that the airline will let your fiance board.   The following is from Air France's travel document check website:

The airline may or may not be able to properly identity the special stamp that you stated the US cosulate will provide.   I would recommend you to contact the airline directly.  Good luck and congratulations.

Thank you, that is good advice to contact the airline directly to be certain. I will do that.

Based on the proclamation, all that you mentioned is correct. However, what isn't specified is that those restrictions do not apply if you have a national interest exception, trust me I've triple checked this. We had to formally request a national interest exception, and were provided with guidance on how to proceed.

I did email the consulate just to be sure about the status but I don't really except them to have an answer. I do understand that processing can take awhile, especially during these times.

¡Gracias!

HI? MY EMBASSY HAS ALSO APPROVED MY CASE AS IT IS EXPEDITED AND IT IS MORE THAN A WEEK AGO THAT YOU INFORMED US THAT YOU WOULD REQUEST OUR CASE TO THE NVC? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW? PLEASE COULD YOU GUIDE ME? THANKS
