Yes, in many parts of the world.

Just in case if someone want to screw up (not really kill it but adding more mess up) your N400 flow, they can complain an adultery report to USCIS and USCIS would put a hold on the n400 process and issue an RFE to the applicant.

But if it finally proves to be wrong, the person who has wrongfully reported to USCIS will be in a great legal trouble though.

It's a bit alarming. I get that it's not an ideal situation for a relationship, but life happens and I feel like it's not up to anyone else to judge, especially make immigration decisions on. To be fair, after I answered no, he explained a little bit that it was an archaic thing and expressed a bit of disappointment that it had to even be brought up.

Ready for my grand ol' timeline? Alrighty then!

10-05-10 - Married in California
06-13-11 - I-130 approved
10-13-11 - CASE COMPLETE!
12-02-11 - Interview - 221g due to a washed passport
12-17-11 - POE - YYC (preclearance in Canada)

2011 to 2013 - Life happened

06-26-13 - Divorce finalized

10-07-13 - I-751 divorce filer paperwork journey begins

07-03-14 - ROC interview - approval pending delayed background checks

07-25-14 - APPROVED! 10 year GC is finally in production!

08-01-14 - 10 year GC in hand. The journey has finally ended. :)

2014 to 2020 - Living paperwork-free and focused on me!

11-09-20 - N-400 filed online - welcome back VJ fam!

6-22-21 - Interview in Nashville, approved! And then...

6-22-21 - Pledge of Allegiance taken. Holy shirtballs I'm a US Citizen.

I've spent so many years in the loving arms of the USCIS, but now it's time to fledge. So long, my friends, may all your journeys also end on the doorstep of whatever you're searching for.

Hey, sorry, I hope my message didn't come off as suggesting that I was judging you or anything you did or didn't do - I'm just surprised that this law is still on the books more than anything...

Very frustrated with the wait....

It's been 10 months since I submitted my N400 application online. No sign of an interview appt yet. My local office is Portland but honestly, the delay may not even be there. Not even sure if my file has reached the Portland office yet.

I checked with a couple of others who live in the same area and filed in Nov'2020. They are waiting patiently as well.

Wish we had some sort of insight into the timeline. I don't have a lot of faith in the computer-generated time estimate that displays in my case status. That's been all over the place really :(

All the n400 petitions would be at NBC all the time till they are Done with background check and ready for the interview. At that time, the files would be transferred to the local office and immediately the interview schedule would be sent out to the petitioner. Thats the standard process.

Hello everyone,

My interview is in 1 week, so I just want to make sure, that I am bringing everything they need!

So I applied under 5 year rule, I got my green card through marriage, however I divorced almost a year ago ( we were married more than 5 years).

I'll bring my:

-notice letter, green cards ( 2 & 10 year), passport, and state ID,

-Divorce decree,

-Tax transcripts for 5 years

-a few paystubs to show that I am still employed

Do I need to bring : my marriege certificate, my ex husband's naturalization certificate (I have only a copy) not the original? My ex's divorce decree, he was married once before he married me? Do I need to bring any supporting documents like bills etc, until we were together?

Just want to make sure that I'll have everything with me! Better to be safe than sorry!

Hey! You are absolutely right!!! You are much better off to be safe than sorry ☺️

I'm divorced, applied for my 10 year GC after being divorced (approved no interview in the middle of 2019) so 2 weeks ago I had my N400 Interview (also 5 year rule) I brought close to 650 pages (pretty much everything I included in my I751/ removal of condition) so the only thing I was asked was my 10 year (current) GC, and the only one question I was asked was if I'm still divorced, I said yes officer and he just kept on going over my N400, the officer was super nice, super polite, and super professional and respectful, the whole interview lasted less than 10 minutes and he approved my case, 15 minutes later I took an oath and got my certificate, sorry for the mess in my post,  but I just want to wish you nothing but a lot of good luck!!! So God bless you and may God bless America!!!!!!!
