I would like to plan travel in August (3 weeks), and I am concerned that I might get an interview notice that it might fall during my travel dates. How far in advance they usually send these notices, and is it possible to reschedule? My service center is San Jose, CA and they appear backed-up, but you never know. Before they took the estimator down, I think my estimated completion date was around September.

If it wasn't for COVID-19, I was going to book my flights right away, but I'm waiting a bit to see how things will play out.

Usually they used to issue interview letters 3-6 week prior to the interview, but yesterday someone from February fillers posted that his daughter got her interview scheduled on May 2nd for May 10th (yes 8 days ahead!!!) So you will never know, what I know exactly (as uscis officer told me) the maximum amount could be 50 days prior the interview itself, couldn't be more but could be less

Mine is 12 months… San Francisco, CA center. My toddler and I will be traveling to see my folks on July so I’m ok with that too 😊

Mine says 13 months but my interview is already scheduled for June. I'd take number with a grain of salt :)

When it says 2 months, does it usually mean 2 months? like its gov, and i get that they have a lot of apps, but do they stick to time schedule?

Just forget about that estimate. Its just a link from current uscis processing times site (which has been there for ages) which gives an estimated time line(not for a particular case specific) for all of the USCIS petitions.

What you see is NOT for your particular case. Its for ANY CASE filed in that date range(of a month or so).

So, just ignore what you see there.. 🙂

Go to : Processing Times (uscis.gov)

select your petition type (N-400)

Select your servicing center..

What estimate you see there is what you can see on your account 🙂 lol

USCIS is just adding a link on your case 🙂

Math is :

Your filing month - what you see on the site = what you see on your account

Ex: You filed on 2020 Nov, what you see on that site is 12 months then what you see on your account would be 12(what you see on that site)- 7(number of months since you filed till today)  = 5 months(what you will see on your account)
