I’m patiently waiting too and recently my case completion date moved from September 2021 to December 2021! Does it count as an update? 😂

If it makes you feel any better, mine updated from estimated completion August 2021 to December 2021 and then the next day they scheduled my interview 😆

I have been working on TWO petitions one for me one for spouse. Both are swinging back and forth between September and December of 2021, I stopped caring about those estimated dates. Apparently those are being updated using some automated computer algorithm. So, relax and ignore that date.

Wow, that was fast! Congrats and good luck. We’re in San Francisco and we’re not the fastest Service center. So all I can do is to wait 😊

Finally, took the oath today.

We entered the building (about 15 people) and waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes before the security allowed us in.

On USCIS floor in the federal building, one officer verified our documents that they are filled and signed and directed us to the ceremony room.

There, an officer was waiting for us.  He collected the ceremony notice letter along with the filled portion and took the green cards.  He asked us to sign the NC and then pointed us to our designated seat where the welcome package was waiting for us.

Shortly after everyone arrived, the field office director came in and conducted the oath.  Once that part was done, we were called one by one, handed the NC, and asked to leave.  NO PICTURE WERE ALLOWED - COMPLETELY PROHIBITED.  The whole thing took like 20 mins.

When I left the oath ceremony room, I went directly to the main USCIS office and asked for certified copies.  They made me 2 copies.  They look almost the same except the paper quality is different and they added a stamp in the back of it and they sign it.  That took about 15 mins.  I was told certified copies are not accepted for US Passport applications.  I only got them in case they lose my actually certificate in the mail when I apply.

Straight out of the office, I went to the BMV and renewed my license and went to a local library and applied for a passport.  The library was much better than USPS and they truly assured me that nothing will happen and that they will take care of my document like their own.  The lady that helped me was supper helpful.  She even gave me the tracking number to track my documents as they are being delivered to their final destination.  Now I know where my application is going.  She also told me that if anything to be lost, or stoled, they will notify the DoS and they handle everything with USPS.  I applied for Expedited which is 4-6 weeks along with the USP card.

I am glad I am done with this journey.  Everything went smooth, so thank you Visajourney and its members.

Good luck everyone and I wish you a fast process.

Congrats...!! looks like you have made a good plan. New things learned to get certified copies right there.. Also DMV and Library(passport application) is a good plan right away.. also noted that you have opted for the passport card as well. I will take good pointers from you.

For Certified copies: The uscis office is in the same office where oath ceremony and NC is issued OR do you need to drive to another address? Does it cost to get certified copies?

Again, thanks for the detailed write up, real helpful. Now I will search for your interview experience if you had that write up in other posts.

Yes, the library is definitely better.  I did a lot of research which most showed USPS not careful with people's documents.  It appeared the the library staff understand the situation better and they offer much more information with details along with a big smile :)

If your oath is being conducted at a USCIS facility, then you can just do walk in and ask for certified copies right away.  One or two are good.  They are free and quick.  In my case, it was the same office.

If your oath is conducted somewhere else (very unlikely with covid-19), then you will have to go to a USCIS facility and request them from the reception desk.  Kind of what you would do for an infopass.  They did actually ask me if I have an appointment, I said no but I just finished the ceremony, then they processed it right away.

I learned from many people who lost theirs with US passport application.  Most of them used USPS.

I hope this helps.
