Hey November Filers

So happy to share news that my interview happened yesterday here in Portland OR and I cleared it successfully! I was even more stoked when my interviewing officer asked if I was available to return in the afternoon to be sworn in (Duh! of course I was!). Oath ceremony was short and totally without fanfare, which was understandable in covid times. As of 2pm, I walked out of the USCIS office with my nat certificate and an American flag in hand. Also applied for my passport today!

Interview was fairly smooth and lasted about 30 mts total.

One thing that I found absolutely bizarre...I asked about getting a certified copy of the nat certificate, just for my own records. They could easily print that but they wouldn't do it unless I needed it for a specific purpose (in which case I needed to make an appointment and return). But there is no cost for a certified copy. And I was already there in person! Nor was I holding the line (there was no one else in the waiting room). So I don't understand why they couldn't just make another copy when clearly it was not difficult to do so. Oh well!

I wish everyone the very best for your upcoming interviews and hope every single one of you has reason to celebrate soon. I couldn't have seen this day without the VJ forums......

No movement at all. :( Although it says in my estimated timeline that there’s only 23 days for case decision. So…🤷‍♀️

I applied under 5 year rule in WI.  In Sept my est. timeline went down to 1 day and then back to the original - something like " Things are moving slower than expected and I don't have to do anything".  It still says that.  I applied Nov 24, 2020.  Wondering if anything will happen this year.

Originally filed N-400 online for San Francisco field office on Nov 9, 2020 but recently moved to Raleigh, NC area. Filed the change of address AR-11 online on Oct 9, 2021. This morning at 4am PT received confirmation that AR-11 was processed, and a couple hours later today saw online that Raleigh office had scheduled an interview for Nov 29, 2021 in the morning (~13 months after filing). Looks like the move helped expedite interview scheduling :) Hoping for same-day oath and same-day passport processing!

Good luck on your interview. I’m  San Francisco filer  as well and no movement at all. I should have move to Raleigh NC too 😂. JK. Not really on a hurry coz my son and I will be visiting my folks for 2 months early next year and my estimated time of completion is 7 months which is perfect 😊

It may work like this:

All initially filed petitions goes to NBC (National Benefits Center) and entire basic processing would be done there till FBI name check and the petition would be made ready to be sent to the Local Servicing center or the petitioner's residential jurisdiction. Once the local servicing center got the interview slot available, the petition would be transferred to that Local Servicing center and the interview schedule would be sent to the petitioner.

The rest of the petition process (till Oath and handing over the Certificate) will be completed at the Local Servicing center and the case would be closed there itself.

For your case, NBC has completed the process and waiting for the SF Local office time slots. At that time, you have filed AR11 for NC and the petition got the local office stamp as NC, Immediately the NC got the interview slot and your got the Interview Schedule.

Here, once an interview is scheduled and the petition's jurisdiction has moved from the NBC to the Local Servicing Center, if someone changes their address(through AR11) the petition needs to go back to the NBC and NBC would re routes it to the new Local Servicing center, its much complicated and takes a lot of time for the next steps.

So, as long as the Interview is not scheduled, its okay to change addresses with minimum time line impact.

How about that? On exactly my one-year filling anniversary, I got a notice that I have been scheduled for an interview on Dec 14th and I have to be there at 7:15am, any idea on how long these things take?

Tim had his interview and was approved. He was lucky to get a same day oath ceremony. We are at the Portland, OR office. Sadly he was a bit nervous for the civics test and he does not remember the questions…he was just so proud he got the first 6 correct.  I can say he used an app that had flash cards with the questions and he said it was very helpful. There is many of them in the App Store.

I am so proud of him but I am a bit proud of myself too. From K1 to N-400 we did not receive a RFE

Thanks to everyone on Visa Journey who helped us along the way or posted something that helped when I started to second guess if I was supplying the correct info.

Best of luck to everyone on their journey!

Did your status changed when they mail your ceremony schedule letter? Or the status stays the same, just you get the mail directly? Cause mine is only 4days after you. Technically the ceremony should about 4 days after yours too. I haven’t even got the letter, plus 2 weeks advance notice put me about around Christmas break. Not knowing  when the letter will arrive or when the ceremony day will be messing my holiday plans. I want to make sure I will not be out of town for scheduled ceremony.
