Not sure on the visa. You would have to find out from the consulate that you are applying to. Nothing is consistent when it comes to the Philippines, One consulate may say one thing while another says something different. If it were me I would just send 2 pictures and write the name on back of one and on the front of the other. 🙂

If you need any advice or help getting the CRBA, just let me know, I would be happy to help.

What are your thoughts on traveling there now? I didn't bother on researching what the rules are and was so focused on being eligible to travel, now that I'm looking into it it doesn't even seem worth it. I have a full time job so if i'm lucky I could get 4 weeks, 2 of which are in quarantine. The day 7 -14 home quarantine is confusing, are you allowed to do this at a hotel and be joined by your spouse and child? It really seems like the ability to travel to the Philippines is only useful if you are going long-term.

Where is your child located?  If in Manila, its easier.  The quarantine as of now is on the 6th day you do a PCR test and the 7th day if negative, you are free to leave to do home quarantine.  If your in Manila, you can do this at "home" and its highly unlikely anyone will follow up with you.  If your in a province of MGCQ, again, not much follow up.  If your in a province of GCQ, you may be requested to do another 2 week quarantine.  All depends where your headed.

Nobody can join you in your hotel room during quarantine.

Im here now so I have the latest info but it changes often.  Rumor is Manila will go to MGCQ on March 1st, but things are subject to change.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Cebu, so it's a little more complicated, would have to try have Cebu as the point of arrival to avoid quarantining in Manila then having to fly again to Cebu. Interesting I thought they would check up on you. So "home quarantine" just mean you are not supposed to leave the house? In other words, there is no limit on how many people can stay with you?

Some places have home quarantine while others don't. If I were you I would hope for a direct flight to Cebu because if not then you would have to quarantine in Manila and then Cebu again.

My nephew just went home to Mindanao from Manila and had to still quarantine for 2 weeks in a school classroom. That was even with a negative test before flying home

Your point of entry has to be Manila where you will then do your quarantine.  All international flights arrive Manila.  You will then fly to Cebu afterward your quarantine.  Its very heavily controlled at NAIA.

In the early parts of the pandemic, many of the provinces would have someone come check on you each morning and take your temperature.  This varied by province, but was widely frequent.  However now most provinces just dont have the resources to do this.

I miss my wife and kids dearly, it has been almost a year since I was there. Between quarantine there and here there is no way I am able to go. I am hoping they loosen up soon. I am thinking now I won't go until she gets her visa. I expect in about 3 months.

Where do you see this? Cathay Pacific and EVA Air are flying directly into Cebu, and Cebu airport has instructions and facilities for the quarantine process for international arrivals

Clark is open too.  A friend arrived there last week with his wife.

A couple of things to note.  They had to do two swab tests; on arrival and after 5 days.  Tests were p2000 per test.  They were told they could stay in one quarantine hotel room and booked one.  After arrival they were told they had to stay in separate rooms, so they had to pay for 2 rooms.

Sorry must have been a change as the quarantine hotels were based in Manila.  Maybe the change was a few months ago. Whether cebu clark or Manila the first week is in a designated hotel.

You may want to check on the transit flights through Taiwan. These had been suspended and may still be according to international sos.

Thanks, yes it looks like Cathay Pacific is the only consistent flight into Cebu

My son was born on June 23rd.

We got the PSA birth certificate back in approx. 2 months.

You MUST have a certified copy of the PSA and a signed affidavit from your fiancé, stating that she and your child are currently in the Philippines.

This and the application and fees need to be sent to the Philippine Consulate that services your state.

I know the affidavit sounds stupid, why else would you send for the Visa?

Where you only asked to show the PSA birth certificate at immigration in Manila? Or did you need to basically show all the evidence that you had to submit to the Consulate to get the 9a visa (barangay letter, invitation letter, photo of baby etc.)

They will ask for the PSA birth certificate.  Since I had my sons Philippine passport with him, I also gave them that.  No other questions.

I sent all papers to the Philippine Embassy here in the US. My location was the New York location. I got all the original paperwork back as well as my passport with the 9a Visa stamp.

Unfortunately, I did not get to use it. My fiance and son flew to the US alone. I met them in San Francisco.
