I will just be glad when it's over. I am sick of all the half truth's, distortions and endless attack ads from both sides. Also sick of a mailbox full of mailers. My wife is in the Kroger union and OMG the mail she gets. To be tree huggers those dems sure are killing  killing lots of trees and using non renewable resources to send out mailers. 

 

Whoever wins I will not be butt hurt.  I will get up and go to work just like any other day. I don't think if Harris wins she will not  turn us into a socialist  state, because to be honest both sides are beholding to big money donors and lobbyist.  I  also don't think who is in the White House  is going to change to corona Virus one bit, nor do I think if Biden had been in the White house anything would be different.  I  am still going to respect all my VJ buddies on both sides of the ditch as I always have and t he same at work.

 

I do hope the media in this country will be more balanced in the future.

The thing with this "MOR" appeal is its clear the cognitive dissonance has battered you into fatigue. Yet in your posts you understand the radical changes being attempted and the violence across the country spreading. I can only chalk that up to low energy. 

 

I have friends all across the political spectrum, they've been my friends for the longest time. You have Biden supporters, Trump, Jorgensen, write ins, and "to hell with voting its a waste". Some of them are absolute conspiracy nuts.. a left wing nut who watches Alex Jones and believes in chemtrail conspiracies, a self described libertarian who is a fan of universal health care. When I moved from the valley into the Bay Area I grew up in an even more diverse environment where people tell you what they think openly and you speak up or get bullied so you learn to defend yourself and learn to let the harshness of politics slide off. I personally am used to the cyclical love-hate I get in a rotating fashion from either side because of the way irrationality waxes and wanes, but this is different. Also what we understand is that the sum of a person isn't merely their political views and that basic humanity and respect extends to the fact that they aren't out torching the country, out of the blue shredding everyone they disagree with as racists, trying to ruin them, and so on. Their respect is mutual. The main thing we had in common is we all shared the desire for a positive outcome for our country, state, etc.,but that is changing. You have people now telling us that the things we share need to be destroyed, that all this time we, our ancestors, etc. were awful people and so are we, history doesn't matter, your actions don't matter.. you can treat everyone with respect and dignity your entire life but if you have a controversial sense of humor or hang out with someone who said something dumb, you're an awful human being (even by proxy) who deserves to lose your job, you should be publicly harassed everywhere you go, and so on. While thankfully my friends haven't changed much, society is rapidly changing and this toxic descent started somewhere and is being facilitated by certain people not by their sense of humor or personal quirks of being odd or supporting odd things but by their malicious actions. 

 

Even in my most young (adult) and naive times I never had a problem voicing how much disdain I had for Bush, warmongering neoconservatives which invaded the Republican party (along with neoliberals invading Democrats) and so on. I beared endless taunting by Republicans when I opposed the Iraq War and knew it was a lie, smeared as a moonbat, armchair activist, pinko commie, etc. But that's as far as it went. I even got called a racist only a few times (though a lot less than others) for considering Barack Obama (as initially my #1 choice) all the way up until the 08 Denver DNC where my hunches of a fraud were proven right when I saw the guy that made his name in the Illinois and US Senate lambasting Bush on surveillance and warrantless wiretaps openly partying with AT&T execs in another building across the street from that convention that were actively co-defendants in lawsuits against them and the government (eg NSA).. it didn't take a genius to understand what that meant in that context. I told people Obama was not what he claimed, sure enough right from that convention where he was the Dem nominee he began welcoming those spying powers he said no President should have and it culminated in him defending the NSA (and AT&T who partnered with them to spy on Americans not compelled by force of warrant or laws but by willful and corrupt partnership) in court and signing a retroactive immunity bill that squashed all hopes from there of transparency. Despite opposing Obama for very principled grounds (and you'll notice I stick with my personal principles and trust my judgment as it often winds up right, and learn from the few screw-ups) I quickly moved on and accepted he was the President, helped make fun of birthers (because why not), never thought that those who blindly voted for him anyways, for what I thought were misguided reasons, were bad people. 

 

Despite all the heckling I endured and gave that was the worst of it. Big whoop. However, once Trump was elected, someone I didn't even vote for in 16, I quickly realized all that common thread of things we shared are being yanked like watching people play Jenga. I could get into the people I believe who are the primary underpinnings (facilitators) of all of this (for the two people who'd bother reading and the zero who would fairly assess it) chaos that has us where we are, but it wasn't them who did this. Merely for showing Trump memes on a forum (before he was elected, I thought the memes were funny and they still are), and for showing a nice poster (who was a fellow liberal that hated Republicans) a video of me target shooting, other leftist posters on that forum who were friends with a moderator got my IP addresses and did a WHOIS lookup on them. Much of the specifics was unknown at the time but the admin gave the info when I provided a police contact and case # for reference. I had posted on occasion from work and they had a certain business IP that gave the company info when doing a lookup. Some posters knew my first name from other posters calling me by it and got my last from the company directory. They found out who my boss was (the VP) from a coworker and contacted my boss telling him that they shouldn't be employing a terrorist and racist white supremacist who threatens people with his guns. Now, I was lucky because the VP knew me. If it was some larger corporation with deranged gun haters who knows. But in Canada stupid #### like that has actually resulted in people losing their PAL/RPAL and even being fired. Just because these idiots disagreed with me and had some childish animus they went that far out of their way to try and destroy me. I have a wife and kids. I never did anything to them at all. 

 

Now look at that in the scope of things like Kavanaugh like so many others (that aren't big names) who've had their lives/careers ruined, all for thoughtcrimes lunatics exaggerate into real world crimes all to justify their own extremism. This sort of militant lunacy that now has people rioting and looting across the country, defacing and destroying our monuments, almost exclusively comes from one side. And note these are actions not mere beliefs or conspiracies. 

 

I guess until you experience people trying to destroy you for nothing, you'll have a hard time taking a threat seriously. Fittingly, on an immigration site, many people immigrate to the US because they experienced this stuff (in a much worse fashion) and are trying to escape it. It's not something that subsides on its own, so practice improving your stamina, or practice improving your kneel.

I was trying to listen to a political podcast yesterday and I realized it was just making me more and more anxious, which as a person who already has an anxiety disorder isn't necessarily a great place to be. So I listened to the end of last week's Last Podcast on the Left and felt infinitely more calm, except for the bit at the very end with the erotic fanfiction about Guy Fieri and Bigfoot, which was a bit disturbing.

 

I am just so over all of this.

I got as far as cognitive dissonance and got fatigue. Seriously no disrespect but do you think wearing out a thesaurus and regurgitating mountains and mountains of  rehashed reddit nonsense and 5 pages of twitter feed makes you sound smart? I find myself watching BBC and sky news and reading news articles from other countries just to see what is going on in the world

at one time i quit listening to news altogether

I find it hard to believe that any of these extremely rich people spending millions and millions on getting elected care about any of us
