That's a bunch of BS! I've never heard of them required a lease before. I didn't have one :ranting:

But then I guess now it will give you time to set up a home for when he does get here inshaAllah. It's stressful enough when they get here to not have to worry about moving into a new place too!

Hoping for good things in the weeks to come :luv:

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

I think sending them an email is a good idea to clarify what exactly they want to see. If you can't show them a lease, you can't show them a lease. I don't really understand why they want that anyway, it seems like a bizarre request.

This is definitely not insurmountable. The CO believes you have a true relationship, that is the most important thing. The other stuff is just paperwork and you'll figure out a way to get around it. Other people here have had crazy situations where they had to provide paperwork that was impossible to provide, and eventually they've all made it through and gotten the visa. Just look at poor CrazyInEgypt who had to somehow prove that her fiance wasn't DEAD! She just succeeded with that, so you'll figure something out.

Lots of hugs,

Sharon

I'm stunned. The apartment complex said they would issue a lease dated 4/25. If the unit isn't ready then we will redo the lease and no rent due until the unit is done and they give me the keys. I didn't think there was any way they would do this.

I will go to get it either at noon tomorrow or on Saturday. I'd go right now but I've managed to panick myself into a migraine.

Do you all really believe we still have a chance?

That has to be the crazy S### I have ever heard! Wonder if you had the same woman that interviewed Khallid? She was only worried why Khallid would want to be with a woman that already has kids!

I would just get the letter from your ex, and possibly something from your future landlord and that should cover things. I just don't understand these embassies.....

I think you have a really good chance. I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time with the gov't but the Universe is still providing. What is meant to be will be and clearly you can see evidence of that by the rental office offering to give you a lease.

In all fairness, in our case I can see the point of the CO. What I didn't like was the bit about "Don't you want children?" That was a whole gammit of assumptions that just offended me. If such issues exist within couples they usually discuss them and its rather private. Maybe, however, she just wanted to see his reaction.

What is amazing to me is how did I not see this coming? You have no idea how thorough I have tried to be. In the beginning I was aware of this being a potential issue and somewhere along the way my stupid head just went to sleep over this.

By the way, the clerk who mistakenly told him last time that he had his visa made a comment to him today that his fiancee "sure was upset" over that incident and didn't he think I was just a bit silly-minded. She has no idea how lucky she was he didn't come through that glass at her. I told him I think someone must have said something to her about it and she was just lashing back.

Now, I haven't eaten or slept so I think I should try to do both. Please thank you again to all of you. You helped me find a bit of hope, although I wish I could put this fear away completely.

I have felt that, but it sure can knock the snot out of you. Even Mohammed was uncharacteristically upbeat saying "Allah is still with us." This was in between sniffles. You guys are wonderful.

I'm so sorry to hear about all these problems you're having. I know the waiting is so difficult and having something else to worry about just tops it all off. I'm not sure if I'm the one to give advice since I'm probably the most impatient person I know but just think of it this way...you've made it this far and you've held on this long it can only get better inshallah. Mohammed sounds like he's crazy about you and you are about him. Your love is all that matters and with this love you can conquer anything. Maybe I'm a big sap but that's how I feel. Keep your head up girl! Kisses to you habibity :luv:

If you're working with the Cairo embassy, things can get crazier.. believe me!! lol Good luck

We are.

I do have a question. The CO said she would call Moh after she received the required paperwork. He asked that she also email me. Does this mean she will advise him of what they will do next, either denial or AR?

Everyone I know says we aren't dead yet, this is just a technicality, but I am just having trouble keeping my optimism alive. He asked her flat out if he would be granted the visa or denied. Her reply was "Send the lease and we will decide." Makes my blood go cold. He spent the day crying yesterday, so did I. Do you know the woman was chuckling through his interview whenever he got emotional and kept saying "Dear, you don't need to get upset". Is she nuts??? How do you take that???

Blah. Sorry guys I'm just not feeling on very straight at all today.

Since they did not deny the visa your already in AR/AP. Once he returns the information to them they will continue the processing. After they are thru with the processing and security checks they should contact him to come back in to finalize the visa. You are not denied so just try and stay strong and get things back on track. Good luck.
