K3 Visa - Policer Certificates in ITALY

Hello...this is my first topic here....my name's Maria and I'm from Rome, Italy. I have been married to an American Citizen (Michael from Ohio) and I am waiting for the K3 Visa Interview in Naples. But... well, I had known before there were so many things to do for a Visa I would have stayed here for the rest of my life  Anyway...nice to meet you guys!!!! :luv:

I've a question about police certificates here in Italy. Naples Consulate's instructions were pretty vague and I am afraid I didn't understand anything.....they say you need police certificates from all the places you have lived for at least 6 months since attaining the age of 16 (or something like that) and they also specify :

" Generally, applications for such certificates ahould be made directly to the police authorities in the district in which you reside". Now...I went to the Tribunal in Rome and they told me they have a lot of different types of certificates:

- Certificato Generale del casellario Giudiziale

- Certificato Penale

- Certificato Civile

- Certificato dei carichi pendenti

If there's someone who had an experience in naples...please help me out!!!!! What certificate do I need???? :help:

Thanks a lot!!!!!

maria

My fiance had to get a certificate from Italy. I think you need the Certificato Generale del casellario Giudiziale, since it includes all the information of the civile and penale put together, and is the most comprehensive record that you can get.

One thing I noticed about the certificate once we got it though is that it is seems like it is specific to the provincia, and not applicable to the entire country.

For our purposes in Morocco, a certificate from Rome was fine, even though he had lived in Genova.

Yes you're right....I went to my Tribunal in Rome and they told me that the best certificate ever is the Certificato generale...also, they told me it is applicable to the entire Country. I wasn't just sure about this... which certificate I needed....everything is always so damn confusing...anyway thank you so much!!!!!

Hi Maria,

Glad to hear you got everything all straightened out with the police certificate. And though you don't need the info anymore, I just wanted to reassure you that you and Jenn are right. My husband also got the Certificato Generale. ... Do you know when your interview date is? If you're scheduled for Feb 6/7, let me know! My husband is coming from Rome as well on those dates for his K3 interview.

Best,

Kaalyx

They sure are slow! I called the consulate on Jan 25th to schedule the appointment, because we hadn't received Packet 4 yet. They just emailed us the interview letter that same day. ...

You should visit the "Italian" thread on this website, as a couple of us are going through the consulate now. ...

Oh yes, and :time: . I think I'm the only Naples K3 up there, so it would really help others who come after us to know about timeframes. ... Interesting though that our submissions dates and NOAs were around the same time.

Best of luck to you and PM me if you wanna talk about things. I'll be sure to let you know how the interview turns out and what you can expect :star:

My husband never received his Pkt. 4 in the mail. The consulate emailed it to us on the 25th, immediately after I had called them to find out his interview dates. It may not even be a proper Pkt. 4. It only lists the dates/times/locations of the medical and interview and reminds the applicant to bring all their documents. There were no forms attached to the email. As of today, we still haven't received anything in the post. ... Did you have any forms in the packet 4?

I don't know why we were scheduled earlier than you, seeing as our NOA dates were so close. ... When I talked with someone at the consulate, I did emphasize that we had EVERY SINGLE required document in our possession and could accept an interview for the following day, if that were available.

... My husband is also REALLY nervous for the interview. I'm more excited than anything else. I can't wait for him to get here. :P The interview should be fairly straightforward, and from what I've heard the officers will handle themselves professionally, which is all I ask. I don't expect friendliness; I just want the visa :)

What part of Ohio will you be moving to? I'm in southeastern Michigan. Nice to meet another partner in a Midwest-Italy marriage!

Yes of course....there are documents.....I never got packet 4 in the regular mail either....they sent it to us by email as well, but there are a lot of things in I'll list you everything here:

A Appointment letter: they explain what documents u will have to bring (such as birth certificates etc, basically the documents u got for packet 3) and 4 pictures as we call them "formato tessera"

B Form DS 230 Part I and Part II ( application for immigrant and alien registration)

C Supplemental Sheet (in which they say talk about police certificates and what you'll have to bring to prove that the marriage is a good one, such as mortgage that u have together, pictures, rent, phone bills etc)

D Vaccination Notice (They list all the vaccinations you need and they price, in case you never had them before and they'll have to administer them to you)

E Vaccination Table 1

F Vaccination Table 2 (both tables are about vaccinations and their risks you need to know about)

G Form DS 3026 (Medical exam and medical history)

H Instructions for form DS 3026 (they tell you to complete only the medical history you have, the rest is for the physical exam)

I Medical Instructions

That's all (joking it's a lot....)....I am afraid they might have misunderstood.....they thought you had already got everything, even the DS230 and the DS3026. Because there effectively is a Packet 4 and it is very important too (that's what they at least told us), since it contains form DS230!!!!! All your instructions for that day are in this packet. If I were you, I would call them and make clear thta you never got the packet 4 and ask them if you need it at this point. That's probably why they were very quick......

I am moving to a little town called Mechanicstown. Its along the Pennsylvania's border, close to Pittsburg, only 2 hours driving.

Hugs

Maria ;)

Ops.....I tried to send it to u, but my connection is too slow. The attachment size is 600Kb and I have a normal speed (I think you call it dial connection). I'll go tomorrow to the internet point close to my house which has a normal (and fast!!) broadband (I even have to download some things.....I always download things there, it is much faster), but I promise I will do it tomorrow, you can count on that. In the meantime I think you should contact the Counsulate straight away tomorrow.....you know why? Because sometimes they might not even require all the documents. A long time ago a friend of mine told me that the same Consulate might choose to send different documents to each applicant, even if they are applying for the same kind of Visa. So, at this point call the Consulate, tell them that this problem is very serious (so they will have to answer!!!!!) and that you effectively got the appointments but never got the packet 4. Also, ask them if you need the DS230 and the DS3026. Let me know tomorrow, I really wanna help you.

Don't worry about it....DS230 is very simple, easy as cake....Let me know tomorrow my email address is

You're so sweet. :star: I've emailed the consulate already, but will have my husband call when he wakes up. ... I had already given him a copy of DS-230, Part 1 that I had filled out for him, so that he could sign it, so I'll have him do that. ... But I would prefer having the instruction list.

I'll email you as soon as I find something out tomorrow. Thanks for offering to send me something, but I don't want you to go out of your way. So don't visit an Internet point just yet. :P Hopefully, I can get some info from the consulate.

More soon!

Naples emailed me at 4am EST/10am Naples time with Packet 4!! I'll send you an email too with the news. Also that way you'll have my main email address. The hotmail one is just what I post online. ... I'm so glad we found each other online :) A small disaster has been averted

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday, Maria!
