Hello wonderful visa journey crew!  Does anyone know if Sworn affidavits verifying a marriage are mandatory for I-751 removal of conditions!  And if so, did you all go to a Notary or just send in formal letters/statements from friends?  We are sending ours in next week!  Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks so much!

No, it is not mandatory and holds little weight. Financial proof is strongest. The required documents are listed on the official site. Please read the instructions. https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

 

edited to add some helpful things to submit are joint banking account statements and credit cards, joint health insurance, joint taxes, leases/utility bills in both names, car insurance/car in both names, any trips taken together

Visa Received : 12/10/14 picked up at Jacmel location

US Entry : 12/15/14 Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Apply for Social Security Card: 12/30/14 Connecticut

Marriage: 1/26/15

 

Adjustment of Status

CIS Office : Hartford                                  Filed : 3/18/15

NOA : 3/25/15                                            Biometrics : 4/15/15

Approved: 8/31/15                                     Received: 9/8/15

 

EAD

CIS Office : Hartford                                  Filed : 3/18/15

NOA : 3/25/15                                            Approved: 6/12/15

Received: 6/20/15

 

Removal of Conditions I-751

Filed: 8/14/17 at VSC                                 NOA: 8/15/17 Received 8/21 by mail

Biometrics: Dated: 8/25/17   Received 9/2/17   Appointment 9/11/17 

Approved: 10/23/18 -no interview

I did mine, I took sworn affidavits of at least 5 people that knew me and my husband (my cousin, my sister in law, my co-workers, and our friends). Have it notarized to make the it more legit. More documentation,  more chances of getting the removal easily.

Did you have to take these friends to the notary? Doesn't the notary have to witness the friends sign the document for them to notarize it?

I've never been to a notary before. Do they not sign the letter until they get there?
