A friend has changed status from B2 to L1 while in the US and has started working with a US employer. If she exits the USA due to family issues and works remotely from abroad for a couple of months, will it be okay? Can she still get paid her US salary from the US employer?

Currently she only has a B2 visa in her passport and will need to apply for L1 stamp once she the consulates opens up in foreign country.

so strange when someone makes a brand new account to “ask for a friend”.

Anyway surely the employer’s lawyer is best placed to answer that? If she is going to be in her home country there may be tax implications depending on the tax regime there too.

Hopefully no-one at the embassy asks why she needs a L visa if she can work remotely. What will happen to her if the embassy where she lives is not yet open for routine visas when she wants to return? Will she lose her job?

Must be nice to have friends.

Anyway I am sure they can keep on paying her, tax issues she needs to talk to her accountant.
