Hi All,

I need advice on what to do next.

I petitioned for my husband and two stepchildren in Jamaica . Their interviews were on August 10, 2020. At the interview they said that we needed a second joint sponsor because of our family size. We got the second sponsor and submitted all the necessary forms and supporting documents. The embassy received that information onAugust 14, 2020. They kept their passports. However, their cases have not been updated since August 27, 2020. The case status still shows “refused”. We have called/emailed the embassy several times. This is always their reply:

“Good day:

Thank you for your email. These cases are currently under administrative review. We are not able to predict how long the process will take to complete. The reviewing officer is doing everything possible to ensure an accurate review. We will contact you should any additional information be needed.

Thank you,

Immigrant Visa Unit
U.S. Embassy Kingston”

I cannot understand how their cases are under review when the last case update was August 27, 2020. What else can be done to get them to make a final decision on our case?

Nothing can be done.  Administrative Processing cannot be waived or expedited.  You can only wait.

Had something similar happen to me earlier in the year. Interview date was Feb 25th, they said everything looked good except they needed additional I864A for my sponsor's father (my father-in-law). They held my passport and said as soon as the document is sent then the visa would be issued shortly after. Requested document was sent two days later (Feb 27th). I checked the status on the website daily, only to see it moved from 'Administrative Processing' to 'Refused'. Numerous calls and emails were sent to the embassy, got the same emailed response you got and was told over the phone that we should continue waiting. This went on for a few months until I got a call from the embassy in June that I was approved and that I would have to leave by July 25th as that is the expiry date of the visa. Got back my passport a week after the call and left JA in July 17th.

Ok thanks you! I’m glad you made it through. This gives me hope. Guessing from your timeline since they gave you 5 months. I may hear something by early January hopefully.
