NIE - K1 Visa - Boarding Issue

Hi,

Hopefully I have been provided with a K1 Visa as I qualified for a National Interest Exemption which has been stated in the visa they have printed.

I am concerned now about taking a direct flight from Schenghen Area to US. The Airline companies can denied the boarding. I would like to understand if someone has already flown straight from a european country to the US with KLM or any other Airline companies and had issues.

Thank you!

If you are concerned about uninformed airline employees, you could fly from Dublin or Shannon, Ireland to the US. Those 2 airports have CBP Preclearance: https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/operations/preclearance

Thank you. Unfortunately I have already purchased and flight ticket and I will enter the US via Amsterdam... I talked to some KLM Representatives and I received conflicting feedback. Some of them said that the airline company cannot deny a person to board unless for health/behavior issues and if he/she  has invalid documents...others told me that they can deny the boarding if the same person doesn't meet the government requirements set by the destination country....

Your kind of in a pickle. You don't have much of a choice if you can't change your tickets. You'll need to give it your best shot and hope it works out. I would arrive at your airport with a number of hours if you need the time to sort things out. Good luck.

I see you are K1, so its a bit different, but I flew end of June together with my wife from AMS to ORD. It was quite difficult, as KLM did not want to allow me to check in at first. Was traveling on ESTA and pending CR1 visa. After going to a supervisor, and I explained I am allowed to travel as I am married to a US citizen, which is one of the exemptions, she checked over phone with a CBP officer and I was given the green light to check in. I had all documents, marriage certificate and of course my wife with me to proof the exemption is applicable to me. If you are allowed to fly according to the latest rules, make sure you have all the paperwork and be prepared.

I suggest you bring a copy of the presidential proclamation and highlight the exemption that applies to you.  Bring the document(s) showing that you qualify for the exemption.  For example, if you are exempted because you are a parent of a USC child, bring your child's birth certificate or CRBA.

Hello, I was gonna ask you how long after the

embassy informed you that you are qualified for a NIE, did they give you your visa?

Hi!

My fiancé explained our case and the reason why we wanted to apply for a NIE. They replied after 2 days asking for some documentation. We provided them with that and they replied the day after we sent it that our request was approved. They scheduled the appointment right after as I had already paid the visa fee back in march.

I went to the interview and what they told me was that I had to leave within the next 30 days as we have been granted a NIE visa.

When I received my visa it was written in the notes NIE TO PRESIDENTIAL PROCLAMATION.

Eventually, I was able to request an official statement from the US consulate just to make sure that the airline company's employees would have understood my situation.

I was able to travel to the US quite smoothly.

Now I am here:)

Oh wow that’s great to hear! So happy for you and your fiancé. Where did you come from if you don’t mind me asking...

my fiancées second interview is tomorrow, I am praying and hoping we hear something good as we have been waiting for over 2 years and have been in administrative processing for 18 months now.

Did you have to re-do your medical examination?

In Italy we had the medical examination the day before the interview. So I have not had any before.
