I'm US citizen married to my wife who was an an F1 student with a 7 years old son on F2.  I petition for adjustment of status 2 years ago and finally got her green card 3 weeks ago. I did not file for my stepchild in the application when I filed for the mom because of financial constraints.

Right now, I want to petition for my stepchild and I want to know which forms and supporting documents I need.

He is a minor and the only applicant.

I am the only person working in our household. Does he need to file i 944? He is just 7 years old. has no SSN, no credit score, no medical insurance. My wife is currently schooling and never worked

I need someone to help me out please.

Yes. He'll also list your assets, resources, etc.: "you will be providing information about your assets, resources, and financial status, as well as the assets, resources, and financial status of all other household members."

Thank you for your response.  Can he sign the forms since he is 7 years old? Can I sign for him as a stepfather?

You'll sign on his behalf: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-1-part-b-chapter-2

Quote

A parent may sign a benefit request on behalf of a child who is under 14 years of age. Children 14 years of age or older must sign on their own behalf. If a parent signs on behalf of a child, the parent must submit a birth certificate or adoption decree to establish the parent-child relationship.

A legal guardian may also sign a benefit request on behalf of a child who is under 14 years of age, as well as for a mentally incompetent person of any age.

By signing the benefit request, the parent or guardian certifies under penalty of perjury that the benefit request, and all evidence submitted with it, either at or after the time of filing, is true and correct.

Does your stepson have SSN? If not, see below:

Filing I-765 and I-131 are optional but highly recommended. It's also free. Having approved EAD will make him eligible for SSN while I-485 is pending.

Thank you. Can he sign the forms or I should sign for him as the stepfather? If I can, how do I sign on his behalf?
