Not yet.  Haven’t seen the FBI denying the story of the handing over of the HDD anywhere so far.  Guess we can only wait and see.  Hopefully before the election.

I doubt that is going to impact anything this go, Trump has lost Women, Seniors and Suburban voters.

Ideally Trump files an emergency lawsuit before election day to hit the social media companies and it's then heard by a newly seated Barrett. 

 

In any sensible reading of section 230, undoing the broadening of their ability to behave as a publisher without being treated as one is elementary.

 

You also have Facebook admitting to being a publisher, and the targeted malicious way competing social media sites engage in publishing activities when they single out and modify so many of Trump's posts (just as one example) to reduce his audience. Unequivocally a publisher.

 

Under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, tech platforms have immunity from lawsuits arising out of their decisions to host (or not to to host) user-generated content. Unlike publishers, which are liable if their writers defame someone, a tech platform is not held liable for content created by its users.

Yet Facebook appears to be jettisoning this categorization in its court filings, saying it has a First Amendment right as a publisher not to carry Loomer’s content.

Via Facebook’s legal filings (p2):

Under well-established law, neither Facebook nor any other publisher can be liable for failing to publish someone else’s message.

This contradicts public statements made in a Senate hearing last year by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who insisted that Facebook is a platform and not a publisher

Yes, we can only hope, and episodes like this certainly show that these platforms do not deserve protection.

I believe the computers were labeled with the Beau Biden Foundation.  What is absolutely dodgy is the Biden campaign's response which admittedly will be difficult for them as they do not know what else was contained on the hard drive(s).

   They admitted they did according to the article. Doesn't matter if it was abandoned, although it is more convenient for the story not to have it linked to anyone. They should have turned the laptop over to authorities, not sent copies to Trump and friends. It's bad enough they make Twitter and Facebook call it a hoax, but they have already compromised any potential legal investigation.

Completely anecdotal, but I talked to a stranger on Tuesday, a woman from just outside Philly who is older than me.  She asked me where I am from, and I gave my typical non-answer of "all over".  When she pinned me down on my place of birth, I admitted CA.  She recoiled, scrunched up her face, and said, "Oh, you're one of THOSE people?!?"  I was able to defend my honor by pointing out I had left the nastiness in my rearview mirror years ago, and we were able to continue the conversation.  Very staunch supporter of Trump.  Can't stand Harris.  Said she would never vote for Biden.  I think she pretty much covers all the bases in your opinion stated above, and Trump certainly hasn't lost her.

 

If you want to see what is really going on, just search for videos and pics of campaign events between the two candidates.  You'll see thousands for one candidate, and 10s for the other (and quite a few of those are his staff).  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.  What you choose to do see in the picture is, of course, up to you.

So a business owner does not take ownership of property that is abandoned, with services requested not being paid for after a period of time?  I am not sure authorities are set up to take ownership of abandoned  property, if I was to take a chainsaw to a repair shop and left it there without paying for the repairs for more than 3 months, should the shop owner turn it over to the police.  As to legal investigation, that is a joke that will never happen, the only thing it is worth is showing what happens in DC among elected officials and their families.

No.  That would be the FBI.

 

If I had any faith left in our FBI after seeing how corrupt they acted over the past 10 years, I would think that something would come of this laptop and the info therein (assuming there is anything damning within).  However, I doubt very seriously that anything will happen.  Not because there has been no wrongdoing, but because the money and power of those involved is a powerful tool to keep the wrong people outside of the jail bars.

Supposedly this shop owner did contact the FBI as well as others in the Congress with no response, and if it was Hunter Biden that dropped off the computer, it doesn't appear that he ever showed up to pick it up (doesn't seem like the brightest light in the bunch).  Also, if they do ever want to do a criminal investigation, they should be able to determine if this person actually doctored or fabricated the information.  I seem to remember hearing of child-porn criminals being convicted in a similar manner.
