Hello everybody i'm wondering once my visa is approved and i fly into the U.S. would i have to quarantine where i landed in the states or could i take a connecting flight to my destination and then quarantine there as i would be living there?

obviously this is very complicated and things can change very quickly with the current covid situation but anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated

this is beth's husband asking this

Depends on the quarantine requirements (if any) of your destination state, not your POE, assuming you stay in the airport before getting on your connecting flight.

Check the guideline for the state of your final destination.

For example, MA requires 14 day self quarantine if you travel from overseas, and also if you travelled from all but 10 "lower risk" states (which are exempt).  I had two business trips last month to NY.  When I flew direct, I did not need to quarantine.  But on the second trip, I had to transit through Michigan.  That transit required me to self quarantine or get a covid test with a negative result.

Also, for MA there is an online traveler's form that need to be completed.

Edit:  P.S.  Who is Beth?

Quarantine has nothing to do with immigration but individual travel and states do or have had their own criteria.   Hawaii anyone?

YMMV

What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with immigration- it has to do with travel, period. If you travel out of the country or spent more than 24 hours in certain states you may be required to quarantine.

quarantines do not apply if you are transferring at the airport.  so according to you if OP lands in Location X and is going to Location Y within USA than he will be quarantined at Location X for 14 days before he can go to Location Y.

duh

Reread the post. If you you spend more than 24 hours in certain states you may have to quarantine at your final destination. Additionally, depending on the country you are arriving from you may have to quarantine at your final destination as well. Neither of these scenarios imply what you just posted or your original post of “no quarantine..nothing”.

thanks for the info and I know it could change at any time I just didn’t want to fly to Philadelphia then have to quarantine there for 14 days then fly on and maybe have to do it all again at my final destination
