Hello,

Thank you for all the wonderful help in this forum. My apologies if this post is redundant... I tried to search for the relevant information and couldn't find anything.

We did a concurrent filing of I-130 and I-485 in August of 2019. I received my EAD/AP combo card in November of 2019. Case has been " ready to schedule for interview" since October 2019. We live in Brooklyn, NY. I applied for a new EAD/AP in September 2020 and this is "processing".

Has anyone had experience traveling with an AP document during COVID? I am Canadian and am trying to make it home to help as my father is ill and is having surgery. As an only child I'm at my wits end of how to help in this situation as I've been told my re-entry to the US is not guaranteed. If anyone has any insight into using their AP during COVID that would greatly be appreciated. I anticipate needing to bring lots of documentation.

Also, is anyone in the NYC metro area able to share their experiences with wait times? I've been told to expect a wait for an interview for three years yet at the same time have read stories about green cards received in six months and am confused as to what my expectations should be.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Only US citizens are ever guaranteed entry into the US.  Even green card holders are not guaranteed entry.  That should not stop you from using the AP for the purpose it was issued.

You didn't specify your field office, but if it's the New York City FO, current estimates for I-485 processing is 14.5 to 25 months.  Check the wait time estimates here -- https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Also, check out this thread for updates from other 2019 filers in New York --

Hi rmpking, Did you receive your EAD? If so, could you please share the timeline.
