October 12, 2019 - Filed for AOS, EAD, and AP

October 24, 2019 - Received NOA1 for above filings

March 27, 2020 - Received EAD/AP combo card

September 28, 2020 - Filed for renewal of EAD/AP combo card (including one form G-1125 for both forms I-765 and I-131)

September 30, 2020 - EAD/AP renewal forms received by USCIS lockbox, Phoenix

October 19, 2020 - It's been three weeks, and still no NOA1 acknowledging action on application for EAD/AP renewal

When first filed in 2019, it took only 12 days to receive NOA1. Now it's been 21 days and still no NOA1.

Am I wrong to expect that USCIS will even send me a NOA1 for EAD/AP renewal applications? I did fill out two forms G-1125.

You sent the forms to the wrong place. You should've sent it to Chicago.

So, there's a possibility they forwarded it to the right place. Which takes time. Or the package is just on its way back.

I was confused by this, too.

I remember that when I filed all the AOS forms the first time back in October 2019, I set them all to the Chicago lockbox as instructed at the time.

However, this time when I went to the specific filing instructions for form i-131, they actually did instruct me to use the PHOENIX lockbox, as a resident of California (certain states are instructed to send their form i-131 to Dallas instead of Phoenix. None are instructed to send to Chicago).

So, I just assumed that both i-131 and i-765 renewal applications should go to the same place, so I sent them both to Phoenix.

Now, when I look up the specific filing instructions for form i-765 I can see that you're right. I was supposed to send form i-765 to Chicago, not Phoenix.

I'm still confused. When I did research on this forum before starting these applications, everyone else said they send both forms i-131 and i-765 to the same place (just like when one first files for AOS). No one mentioned sending i-131 and i-765 to different lockboxes. Yet, that's exactly what the instructions say to do.

And even if I did mess up by sending form i-765 to Phoenix, I still should have received a NOA1 for form i-131, which was sent to the correct lockbox (Phoenix). Yet, no such NOA1 has arrived.

Did anyone else who applied for renewal of EAD/AP get a NOA1?

Should I re-send my i-765 renewal application to the Chicago lockbox?

I wish there were some way to actually get someone at USCIS on the phone, but it appears that it is now impossible. All the threads on this forum on how to reach a live agent at USCIS are ancient.

Took 4 weeks for me to receive text confirmations and over a month to receive NOAs for combo card renewal. Filed beginning of September 2020.

Having said that, as pointed out, you sent them to the wrong office, so that may well also be causing an issue.

I don't know where you're looking but the Instructions for 131 says to send it to Chicago.

Oh, snap. You're right! Thanks. I should have read the instructions more closely. I was looking under "All Other Applicants" when I should have been looking under "Applicants with a Pending Form I-485".

I should probably re-send both forms i-131 and i-765 to the correct lockbox in Chicago to be safe, right?

The fact that I sent these forms in twice shouldn't create any problems down the road, right?

Don't file twice. https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/organization/directorates-and-program-offices/management-directorate/office-of-intake-and-document-production/lockbox-intake-processing-tip-sheet

Application Sent to the Wrong Filing Location

If you sent your application to the wrong filing location, we will forward your application to the correct Lockbox facility. If the application is not processed by a Lockbox facility, it is returned to the applicants.

If applicants or their representatives have specific cases where this is not happening, you should provide additional information to Lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov and we will make any required corrections.

So, after sending to the wrong location, I did nothing except wait. After a few more weeks, we got the NOA from Missouri. USCIS must have forwarded it to the correct location. Great!
