I think it's fair to complain. We each have our own situation and experiences with them. I know about the whole pandemic affecting all that, but then again during the pandemic they kept doing interviews for students visas and even prioritized that while family based visa interviews were put on hold. Even now when they are saying they will prioritize IR1 and CR1 visas, they are still holding interviews for student visas. I think it's perfectly normal to complain. Not like they will care if we complained or not.

I totally agree whit you!!will get up from this nshallah, I know whit our present president is doing his best to fix the immigration issues, whit out linking any political aspects to this forum. me and my wife we are considering many options for this delay, 1 of them is may her move temporary to her own country whit her and wait for the interview in abu dahbi but I don't know if that will affect since we projecting that it should be interview by this year.

Yeah, I will just look into it carefully before moving. Because moving will take a lot of effort and time, so I wouldn't want to move then have to wait all over again for the process.

What?? What's going on? Is that why they haven't been giving inteterview letters? So much for increasing the capacity...

Good luck anyways, hopefully you won't have to wait long after the interview!

Hello all, It is been quiet for some time. Are there interviews being scheduled? Anybody got Interview Letters.

I don't think so. The fact that the person who expedited got an appointment 3 months from now suggests that they are not holding interviews probably these following months, or very very limited. Not looking too good.

Today I reached out the Abu Dhabi embassy through email and the below is their auto reply response. This clearly states that they are processing immigrant visas.

=================================================================================

Resumption of Limited, Routine Immigrant Visa Processing in Abu Dhabi

Effective immediately, we have increased the range of immigrant visa services available and resumed limited, routine immigrant visa interviews.  Among immigrant visa applications, we will prioritize emergency cases and then Immediate Relative family members of U.S. citizens including intercountry adoptions, fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens, and certain Special Immigrant Visa applications.

As we increase the range of our immigrant services available, we’ll be processing cases in the order that the National Visa Center determined the case to be “documentarily qualified.”  When a case becomes documentarily qualified, the National Visa Center sends an email to notify you that it is complete and pending scheduling at the Embassy, so please review your past emails from the National Visa Center to determine what date your case became documentarily qualified. You may also check your CEAC account to find this date.

Applicants must either have UAE residency or have the ability to travel to the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi for their interview. (Please be mindful of COVID-related travel restrictions between the Abu Dhabi and Dubai emirates, and from other countries to UAE.)

Yes, that's what is stated in their website, but since the "increased" range no one got an IL so it's a little suspicious. Maybe they are actually only working on people who had the travel restrictions lifted.

Congrats on getting a date for your interview!

It's quite confusing with the update they did at the beginning of the month and then not much happening last week and then an EXPEDITE scheduled for 3 months out.

This wait might be waaay longer than I anticipated :( However, I am glad you were able to get an interview scheduled for your circumstances. At least you now have a date to plan and prepare for?

I wonder if a closer date were to open up till then...would they reschedule to help you get an interview quicker?

It’s very confusing. Because when someone request for an expedited interview and it’s approved, usually the interview will be after 2 week from the IL . But this time no one knows why they are doing that” 3 month for the IL” . As you said , they might be trying to reschedule interviews for people who were banned before. And about rescheduling, there is an option online but is always says no available spots . So no hope till now . At least I know my interview date 😅. Hope you get all the interviews ASAP.

A new update by the embassy. Only regarding Iranian nationals. Though from that we can see that they already gave appointments 3 months in advance. I am guessing that how they planned to deal with the ban, giving appointments to everyone for the next 3 months. So maybe after June things go back to normal month by month basis? Screenshot_20210325-090812_Chrome.thumb.jpg.3a4e89d32e78e2b9aca71ead0429b1b6.jpg

  • 3 weeks later...
Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Turkey
Timeline

There is a new update from Embassy about immigrant visas. Looks like people from countries like Iran and Iraq are still having hard time to enter to country if not more other countries.

Now looks like everyone is prioritized, so backlog of banned categories will affect the process more and more. Lets hope the best but for IR1/CR1 it looks like a long wait will be there. Best luck to everyone!

The disruption to IV for Foreign Nationals seems a bit confusing.  What if I have valid residence visa, a foreign national and I am here in UAE, how would the embassy know/validate that IV applicants has a valid visa?  And, what about entry in Dubai?  Dubai accepted visitors and if a visitor cross the border following safety protocols and proved that not infected with Covid.  So frustrating :(
