Hi there,

well, all I wanna do is cry right now, just got home from being out all day to find an RFE on my AOS application.

This is the situation:

It tells me about the I-693 Form. And then at the bottom in bold it says that a TB skin test is a requirement of the Center for Disease ...

Now my question is this : When I got my medical done in SA for my K1 visa, I had an x-ray done for TB, not the skin test. They put the results into the brown envelope with my other medical papers, and it was taken at my POE.

I do however have a copy of the x-ray results, done by an appointed SA civil surgeon for the USA.

Nowhere on the I-693a form did it ask for those results as it was in the brown envelope which I thought they had.

The RFE that they sent me, isn't very clear in what I am needing to send them, as I think it's a generic one that they use.

Do I need to get the skin test done, even though the x-ray would tell you if I had TB or not ( they say if your TB is positive you need to get an x-ray, we just skipped that test and went straight to the end process - but NO, I did not have TB, that is just what they did. )

If I need the skin test done, do I go back to the civil surgeon, or just any doctor will do?

Do they have to fill out a whole new form, or just write a letter.

Man, I am sooo confused right now.

Please help.

Thanking you all in advance

When did you get your medical done? I'm asking because the instructions say the following:

"If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application."

I have read about cases where the medical report got lost....

Hopefully someone here can help you

If you have to do the TB skin test:

Go to the County's Health Center. They do it for free.

Then you can take the results to a civil surgeon

I had the actual K1 medical done in September 2006, then when I filed for AOS here in the US, I had the I-693a supplement form done in March 2007 and sent that in with my papers.

I have the actual x-ray, should I send that in with the letter.

Our civil surgeon is 2 hours away

So your medical is less than one year old...is the RFE asking for the TB test only or the whole medical? If it's asking for the entire medical they might have lost the documents from your K1 medical...what exactly does the RFE say?

You might want to consider scheduling an infopass appointment.

Looks like you should get the TB skin test either from Health Dep. or have DCS do it. Have him add it to your I-693A . Put in another sealed envelope and send it back in!

Hopefully it won't be positive as you will have to have another x ray if so.

Looks like USCIS is nervous about the guy that flew contaminated!

Just my 2 cents!

It sounds like they indeed lost your K1 medical and are now asking for a new medical (including the tb skin test). Is there a way you could get a copy of the medical that was done in your homecountry? If I were you I would schedule an infopass appointment. If you decide to do so, be sure to tell them that you entered the country on a K1 visa and already had your medical done as part of the K1 process. Maybe your medical is just sitting in a different folder...

Good luck :)

My wife`s case was exactly same. She had the test done in Nigeria in October 2006. I-693A was mailed in and we got an RFE. For a while i tried to.....wait for it........reason with some folks at that USCIS hotline. Some exercise in futility that turned out to be.

My advice: If you want to get the process going again, do the TST and mail that back in. If positive, get another CXR done and also send that in.

Once received your process should pick up from where it was left off. In our case, green card was in hand some 3-4weeks after we mailed back the items as recorded by the civil surgeon. I was not taking anymore chances. I decided for an overkill............all the venereal diseases were tested for, TST and yes i added even the ones they did not request for.............an overkill. I was exasperated at that point.

Be sure your CS is amenable to transcribing results you obtain from your local Health depts.

Trust me your case will be sitting on the shelf until the TST is done. Apparently the panel physicians in the home countries have not been updated with the need for TST before CXR as directed by CDC.

Goodluck!

little4ele,

I don't see why you are narrowing this down to a missing DS-3025 at the same time you talk so much about the TB test and other keep talking about the I-693 vaccination supplement. The TB test is not reported on the DS-3025 or the vaccination supplement.

This notice says to me that the case officer can't find the visa medical report forms in the case file. Maybe they really are lost, or maybe they just didn't spot them the first time through the file (the interviewing officer at my wife's AOS interview had trouble finding them. I would be inclined to do one of two things, or both:

- just go to a civil surgeon and get a medical exam, or

- have a brief consultation with an immigration attorney who does family-based immigration and ask, in his experience, what is the most likely problem and what the most expedient solution would be (probably get the exam).

I would recommend you get the test done. Actually, the chest x-ray does not tell for sure that you do not have TB. It is only used to tell the difference between the "infection" stage and the "disease" (contagious) phase if you do have TB. In other words, it is possible to have the early stages of TB and have a clear chest x-ray. Only the skin test will say for sure that you don't have it.

If you have it done soon and send the results in quickly, your delay might not be too long...

Best Wishes,

Tanya

Hi there,

well, all I wanna do is cry right now, just got home from being out all day to find an RFE on my AOS application.

Thanking you all in advance

ok I'm really confused. Do you only need to have a skin test now and only an Xray if the test is bigger than 5mm. Am I reading right? When I had my K1 medical done in 2004 I just had an X RAY no skin test. I have like many had the BCG when I was 13 so it's likely to be positive..

The nearest designated civil surgeon said I also need to have the blood tests done at the county health department. When I have the results i can take them to her and she'll complete the physical. Has anyone done the medial like this before ?
