Any AOS filers in Austin, TX got their biometrics appointment yet?

So, the Application Support Center in Austin has been open since late July, three months (!) ago. We applied for AOS in early May and received the NOAs on May 12.

It's been over five months since our application was received, and others here (according to the VJ Timeline progress reports) who applied for AOS in May have received their EADs already with biometrics done 1-2 months ago.

Anyone else in Austin who applied in March-July (when the ASCs were closed) received their biometrics appointment yet? The EAD can't be issued until biometrics are complete so I'm just sitting here waiting to get to work...

For a few months they were issuing EAD/AP cards without biometrics because of the whole covid situation, maybe they still are?. All the biometrics does is let them add your information electronically to the chip inside the card so it will work at the scanners. I know a few people with EAD/AP cards that do not have the biometrics stored in them, and the only downside is when they go to reenter the US they can't use the card reader, they have to psychically hand the card to the CBP officer and they verify it on their computer. Card would work for employment because I doubt most employers are checking that the card has the biometrics information on them, you just show it as proof you are authorized to work. If you haven't received the card yet, then that is a whole other story. I can take 6-7 months currently to get the EAD card, and depending on the situation, you may not need the appointment to actually get the card. It is a little weird in your case, as my wife had her biometrics appointment about a month after her I485 was received. Have you considered requesting an expedite for the EAD? You can always try due to financial hardship of not being able to work, it doesn't cost anything, and worst they can say is no.

As a side note, The wife and I had a great time in Austin and San Antonio last year!

Filed AOS July 1 2020 and still no update on a biometrics appointment. So I'm after you and haven't heard anything if that gives you any reassurance.

Well well well, welcome to the club.. I applied back in May too and still nothing.. My priority date is May 4th. The lady told me yesterday that Austin office reopened on July 20th, so exactly 3 month ago, and since it's been 90 days now I'm going to file a case inquiry. Hopefully they pick up the pace because at this rate we won't be able to work before January.

Some people applying from other places literally have their green card appointment scheduled.

Hi Austin friends, we applied for AOS in May, USCIS received our application on May 12, and I just received my biometrics appointment for EAD/AOS on December 9 (notice dated November 28...). So check your mail!

And USCIS's "Receipt date for a case inquiry" for the I-765 employment authorization application is now May 28, 2020; so if you applied before then and still haven't received your EAD or even your biometrics appointment, you can submit an "Outside normal processing time" inquiry here: e-Request - Outside Normal Processing Time (uscis.gov)

FML. Appointment was scheduled for December 24th and the ASC was closed... If it had been the 23rd or 28th I'd be done with the biometrics; now I have to wait for a new appointment in the mail and hopefully this one doesn't take seven months.

I am not from Austin, but I’ve read about some people just walking in with their biometric notice after they missed their appointments. May be worth a shot?

Yeah went in on Monday the 26th with a 24th appointment (I wasn't the only one in line who tried that); they just said to wait for a new appointment letter. No walk-ins during covid.
