The 2 inch by 2 inch photos needed for the I-130 form

The form asks for 2" by 2" photos. To me it sounds like they want passport style photos, but I have never heard of passport photos being square... can anyone help me out :)?

We asked for US passports photos at the store in Montreal and used them for the I130 application. Did the same for the NVC and worked out well.

US Passport photos are 2"x2". In other countries they're more rectangular.

Bolded the important part of this post for emphasis; spouse ended up getting Irish and US-style passport photos and the US ones are indeed square.

They ARE square and 5cm X 5cm is also acceptable.  When used in a passport or a visa, they will appear rectangular though.  Something to do with the new passport machines and how they operate.

Because Canada is not a part of the USA and is part of the "rest of the world"

Most photo stores can’t change the sizing to US prior to printing them out for you..

Make sure you validate that the photo's are less than 90 days old.  Let the games begin.

At the end of the day, the instructions should be followed whatever size it says.

You just have to be sure to ask for an American passport photo if not doing it stateside because you might just end up with a different size.

I've gotten 2x2 inch 50cm x 50cm prints in Mexico, Hong Kong and Philippines. Money talks.  Plus you can always print your own on "photo" paper.
